Guns are ICKY!
Topic: Out of Flyover Land

It seems there are some in our Democratic Party controlled Congress who trhink that Guns are ICKY.

So they figured out how to elimate the ability of at least SOME Lawmakers from being armed.

Just slip a positon in  spending bills prohibiting the use of funds for purchase of firearms,

Library of Congress Agents Ask Lawmakers to Give Them Back Their Guns

Investigators with the Library's Office of the Inspector General have raised a string of objections after Congress stripped them of their ability to buy and carry firearms in the fiscal 2009 omnibus spending bill. They could get their wish

Don't try to swipe a book from the Library of Congress -- library investigators might soon be getting their guns back.

Investigators with the Library's Office of the Inspector General have raised a string of objections after Congress stripped them of their ability to buy and carry firearms.

Though the office has carried firearms in the course of its duties for the past 15 years, and inspector general agents at other federal agencies do the same, lawmakers inserted language into the fiscal year 2009 omnibus spending bill, which was signed into law in March, that prohibited the library's officers from using federal funds to "purchase, maintain or carry" firearms.

They cited an apparent "separation of powers" concern -- the library's investigators are deputized by the U.S. Marshals, which falls under the executive branch, but they investigate abuses in the Library of Congress, which falls under the legislative branch.

Inspector General Karl Schornagel cried foul.

"It's never been questioned until just recently," he told FOXNews.com. "Consider that we've been doing this for 15 years, we're very successful."

The office wrote in its semiannual report to Congress in March that the decision would "impede" investigations. It also received an opinion in April from the Government Accountability Office that there is no legitimate "separation of powers" concern.

Schornagel said the IG's agents just want to be "made whole again."

Crimes against the Library of Congress take many forms. The IG's office investigated child pornography, embezzlement, identity theft and credit card fraud in the last fiscal year, according to its own accounting. It executed 13 search warrants and served 19 subpoenas, while winning one guilty plea and conviction.

While investigating crimes in and against the Library of Congress might not sound like the most dangerous job, another official in the inspector general's office said most of their investigations take them off site, into some dangerous neighborhoods in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and other states.

Though no agent with the Library's IG office has ever fired a gun in the course of duty, Schornagel said much of his agents' work "requires a firearm." He said there's always the chance a suspect could get violent -- plus the guns can be a deterrent to violence during searches and arrests

They can blow that Separation of Powers Blue Smoke all they wish, WE know the reason that they want to take Guns away from anyone, anywhere that they can is because they think'

 Guns are ICKY

The Real Scary part is that these are the same people who are in charge of the SECURITY and Defence of this Nation?

Well I know one thing for sure

I didn't vote for Cretins like that?  They do NOT belong to MY Party!

Taking Turns
Topic: Out of Flyover Land

Update: Is this the next step?

Obama: I will ease post-9/11 scrutiny of Islamic charities

The Holy Land Foundation funneled millions of dollars to Hamas, but so what? What could go wrong?

"President Obama to American Muslims: I will ease the impact of post-9/11 scrutiny of charities," by Michael Saul for the New York Daily News, June 5 (thanks to Charles Jacobs):

Tucked away in President Obama's historic speech in Cairo Thursday was a promise to American Muslims to ease the impact of post-9/11 scrutiny of their charities.

We have all heard many times the justification for Affirmative Action.

It is we are informed, corrective action to redress discrimination of the Past.

Well it seems that in the Post Racial Era of the Obama administration that activity has been expanded to include Voter Intimidation.

Makes sense, the Klan did it after all, it is now someone else's turn?

From the Washington Times

EXCLUSIVE: Career lawyers overruled on voting case

Black Panthers had wielded weapons, blocked polls

Justice Department political appointees overruled career lawyers and ended a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense of wielding a nightstick and intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place last Election Day, according to documents and interviews.

The incident - which gained national attention when it was captured on videotape and distributed on YouTube - had prompted the government to sue the men, saying they violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act by scaring would-be voters with the weapon, racial slurs and military-style uniforms.

Career lawyers pursued the case for months, including obtaining an affidavit from a prominent 1960s civil rights activist who witnessed the confrontation and described it as "the most blatant form of voter intimidation" that he had seen, even during the voting rights crisis in Mississippi a half-century ago.

Some time back I heard a radio personality from Cincinnati, Mike McConnell  say something I thought very profound.

He said that when we use terms like Reverse Discrimination, it is wrong, because we are accepting something that is not true.

That there is a third state in addition to Discrimination and Not Discrimination.

That is one of the Big Lies that some think can become truth if it is repeated loud enough and often enough.

THIS Man believed differently,

On  28 August 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.

Dr Martin Luther King said, I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where

they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

He did not say, "I have a dream that one day it will be OUR turn to intimidate Voters."

It would seem that some Political Appointees in our Government don't know that,

We must remind them.

Let's Pretend The Train Is Running
Topic: Out of Flyover Land

Cross Posted at : Hot Issues From Linn County Iowa

One of the aspects of Cosmic Synchronicity, is the same message keeps popping up.

It is as if the Universe is saying, "Not paying attention are we?  Well let's see if you notice THIS."

Lately I seem to be running into the same dialog.

During a long thread on an international forum concerning some of the financial and business manipulations of our present administration a gentleman from the UK posted to me:
Your mania to dissect the done deed serves little purpose because the vast majority are now concerned with the overall crisis impact and culture solutions -- rather than the failure to perhaps cross a few " Ts" and dot a few " Is" in the past .
Myself I think trashing Contract and Lending Law, the intimidation and coercion of Creditors by the Government to be more than just failure to dot Is and cross Ts.

When I have made my views known about the situation of the Local Central Committee as regards Voting Credentials and activities of the Executive Board?

What  I receive in reply, is "Let's not create a public spectacle, just let it ride, we can fix these problems in the NEXT Precinct Caucuses.

In the same manner we did NOT fix these things in the previous Caucuses?

I mean the Election Code WAS written quite some time ago.

All these messages I keep getting remind me more and more of a Soviet Era Russian joke.
Stalin, Khrushchev, and Brezhnev were riding on a train, which suddenly came to a halt.
Stalin jumped up and shouted, "I will get this train running.  Shoot all the Engineers!"
The train still sat.
Krushchev jumped up and exclaimed,  "I will get this train running.  Give everyone a RAISE."
The train still sat.
Brezhnev just looked at the two, shook his head and said,  "Draw the drapes Comrades, we can pretend the train is running.
What difference does it make?"
So every time someone tells me that the Rule of Law, Sanctity of Contracts, Constitutions, Rights of  Individuals, when they become Inconvenient or in the way of the Greater Good, can be set aside and we can just  act like we are doing what we should?

When I am told I am creating too much of a stir over technicalities which might hinder more important plans?

What I hear is:

"Draw the drapes Comrades, we can pretend the train is running.
What difference does it make?"

They Are Succeeding
Cross Posted at : Hot Issues From Linn County Iowa
Perhaps I have been to judgmental in my polemics.

So I got to thinking  in what areas have  the New Executive Board been succeeding?

Those who were at the  nomination meeting may recall that one of the major platform items presented was a Precinct Initiative to, as we were informed, replicate the success of the Obama Political Machine on Precinct  level here in Linn County.

To Win Elections

Well the Obama Machine did win their Election.

What have they done since?

They have been busy slighting, insulting and alienating our Allies

Here we have seen the same results with Issue organizations that one would normally think of as Allies of Conservatives,

The Tea Party movement and the NRA, we have not shined in our relationship with either.

The Obama Machine has also been busy tearing down those institutions which have served us well the during this decade and helped keep us safe.

And here in Linn County?

In the last few months, the strong system of sub-committees formed to

organize Fund Raising and Volunteer Assembly has fallen by the Wayside.

We are told that the Executive Board will follow the wishes of the Central Committee,

If they so choose.

Both the Obama Administration and the New Executive Board have plans to spend far more than the income that seems to be available.

Though here in Linn County, I have yet to hear of any viable plans to raise funds

Other than moving the meeting out of the Longbranch to placate some mysterious big donors who do not wish to be sullied by too close a proximity between the Linn County Central Committee Meeting and Demon Rum.

Oh Yes I did over look ONE of the New, Fresh Ideas

They have created a method for us to donate money via automatic drafts from our Bank Accounts for them to use for whatever purposes they so desire,  With or without consulting us,  or getting our approval

All this reminds me of a Song

So I guess in some Areas they HAVE succeeded in carrying through with their campaign commitments.

So we sit and wait,  Wait to be informed of matters that an amazing amount of folks seem to know before we do.

It would appear there is only one function desired of the Central Committee in the present times.

What They Don't Tell Us
Topic: Out of Flyover Land
Clichés are clichés because they express obvious or Universal Truths.

There are two sayings in Politics that I am certain are familiar to all of us.

One person can not make a difference,

All politics are Local.

The first we are continuously told.

The second is an Article of Faith in the Political World.

The reasons for that dichotomy should be obvious, we have power that they do not wish us to realize.

Recent events have proven to me that one person, what they think, do, say, write, can institute change,

Maybe not in the entire system, but in the way people think.

When one person says what others are thinking, people realize that they are not alone in their thoughts, and that together, they DO have a power to initiate Change.

Now it is true that we here on the Local Level can not change the entire system,

But we CAN change what happens in our neighborhood and act as examples to people elsewhere.

When enough neighborhoods take control of their destiny on the Local Level, then the entire system WILL change.

I have presented to Linn County Iowa, the idea that there are things we need to change,

There HAS been a response,   People HAVE been listening or rather reading.  I can tell that by my server logs.

So we must gather together to address the problems in our neighborhood,

Those of you from elsewhere are responsible for your neighborhoods and your own destiny.

We all change our own backyards for the better, everything change.

Baby steps to start, when we have our side of the street cleaned, then we can move on to the District, State and National Level.

Just remember that bit about one person not being able to make a difference?

Is a LIE.

Where Did My First Amendment Go?
Topic: Out of Flyover Land

They say you often don't realize how important some things are until they are GONE.

We better start paying attention, because there are some very important things , that the Powers in Office, seem to find inconvenient.

This in from the incomparable Captain Ed Morrissey  over at Hot Air

White House: We’ll cut off criticism of Porkulus

I don't know about anyone else but this sounds a lot like

" abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

“First, we will expand the restriction on oral communications to cover all persons, not just federally registered lobbyists. For the first time, we will reach contacts not only by registered lobbyists but also by unregistered ones, as well as anyone else exerting influence on the process. We concluded this was necessary under the unique circumstances of the stimulus program."

Go hither and find out what the PTBs think you no longer need.

Make no mistake friends this is as much of an attack on the basic structure of our Republic as the British attack on Fort McHenry, which inspired these immortal words:

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

America IS under attack, we must as our forefathers have done down through the generations, spring to her Defense.

I will put my trust in the American People.

Every person in our Military has taken an Oath to:

support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same

25 Million Veterans have taken this Oath and their ranks are swelled by every Red Blooded American who holds the Constitution as Sacred.
and they will speal with one Voice that will resound from Shore to Shore

UP

THE CONSTITUTION!

Fiscal Newspeak
Topic: Out of Flyover Land

Newspeak a creation in George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. it's characteristics are

The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of IngSoc, but to make all other modes of thought impossible.

It was intended that when Newspeak had been adopted once and for all and Oldspeak forgotten, a heretical thought

-- that is, a thought diverging from the principles of IngSoc -- should be literally unthinkable,

at least so far as thought is dependent on words.

Its vocabulary was so constructed as to give exact and often very subtle expression  to every meaning that a Party member could properly wish to express,

while excluding all other meaning and also the possibility of arriving at them by indirect methods.

I encountered what might be an example of this during an online debate with one of our local elected officials recently concerning the LOST (Local Option Sales Tax) Ballot initiative.

The Gentleman was delighted and celebrating the Victory of a Tax Increase.

To which I took exception, an  occurrence that should come as no surprise to anyone who  has been reading the posts on this website.

Now I am sanguine about Tax increases, their major premise seems to have been that it would not have been Fiscally Responsible to NOT support the New Tax since for an estimated $13 Million  in Tax Revenue raised the State would remit to the Municipality  $20 Million.

Say that again?  Spending 54% more than Tax Revenue is Fiscal Responsibility,

 In WHAT Universe?

Oh I see, it's fiscally responsible since the extra $7 Million will come from Taxes on citizens who do not live in your Municipality?

Like ME for instance?

My thoughts on these subjects run on the order of

Americans don't save money, as a rule we spend it.

When you spend money, that increases the demand for goods and services.

An increase in demand for goods and services, helps create jobs.

I consider the above on the order of

Run Spot, Run

When you Tax money,  the public does not spend it, does not increase the demand for goods and services and does not help create jobs.

But Dan you might say, the STATE and the Municipalities will spend that money and help create jobs.

True, but a portion of it will be absorbed in the Cost of Government.

That will also create jobs, jobs, for Government Employees.

So you can leave the money in the General Economy and create jobs there, or Tax it and create jobs in Government.  The size of Government increases in Direct Proportion to an increase in Revenue and Budget,

I know what my choice is..

So to sum up the situation.

This Elected Official believes in

Increased Taxation

Increased Government Spending

Deficit Spending

Spreading the Wealth

An increase in the Size of Government.

For 10 Extra Credit Points, the Conservative Principles enshrined in the above ARE??

Did I mention the person is a REPUBLICAN?

Sigh, maybe it's not their fault.  Maybe they just don't know any better.

We must EDUCATE them!

As a start in a Remedial Course in Political Philosophy, I think I will recommend.

The Enemies List
UPDATE and BUMP:  More from Mainstream Texas Conservative in

Dealergate Update: What we have so far

On the House side, at least one U.S. congressman is also asking questions, and with good reason. Even before receiving his notice from Chrysler, Florida Rep. Vern Buchanan was told by a House colleague that his own Florida dealership is on the chopping block:

"It's an outrage. It's not about me. I'm going to be fine," said Buchanan, the dealership's majority owner. "You're talking over 100,000 jobs. We're supposed to be in the business of creating jobs, not killing jobs," Buchanan told News 10, a local Florida television station.

Where does it all go from here? The tedious and time-consuming work of slamming the safe dealer list -- the complete list, not just a random sample -- has to be completed. Then, and only then, will we have statistically significant answers to the many questions that have been raised by the footloose and fancy free manner in which the Obama administration and MOPAR management appear to have handled the task of pruning down the Chrysler dealership network.

We would suggest that if the auto task force and Chrysler want their criteria and methodology to be believed, both should immediately release transcripts -- or at least the meeting minutes -- of their deliberations on the matter of the dealer closings. But don't hold your breath...

Addendum: We almost overlooked one of the most incredible chapters in the story so far. Almost a month ago, even before the closing Chrysler dealers got their notices, the company said that it was looking for new dealers to replace its "underperforming" dealers in small markets. Underperforming, like the many Five Star dealers (previously touted by Chrysler as its very best agencies) that are being closed. Before the pinks slips were even printed. You can'tmake this stuff up.

Hat Tip Atlas Shrugged  in
Obama Closed and Stole Republican Car Dealerships?

Remember this poor beleaguered (robbed) businessman robbed of his business by the Obama criminal gang?

A tipster over at Director Blues made a startling assertion. A cursory review by that person showed that many of the Chrysler dealers on the closing list were heavy Republican donors.

To quickly review the situation, I took all dealer owners whose names appeared more than once in the list. And, of those who contributed to political campaigns, every single one had donated almost exclusively to GOP candidates. While this isn't an exhaustive review, it does have some ominous implications if it can be verified.

However, I also found additional research online at Scribd (author unknown), which also appears to point to a highly partisan decision-making process.
