A mounting counter-offensive has been undertaken by a number of Roman Catholic apologists today. They freely admit that most of the movement in religious circles has been away from Romanism toward biblical fundamentalism. They believe, however, that their efforts will turn the tide, and that within a short period of time the trend will be reversed.
Their greatest thrust is to give Roman Catholics ideas of how to respond to a Christian when confronted in any way. Several priests and Catholic laymen have written books and articles along this line, and the largest Roman Catholic apologetic organization in America, CATHOLIC ANSWERS, has produced over 50 tracts to help Catholics resist biblical claims.
While some of the tracts are extremely shallow, a number have doctrinal points with which it would profit the fundamentalist to be acquainted, and these Catholic answers, with the biblical response, are contained in this booklet.
We must always go forth in evangelism knowing that our aim is not to win an argument. Our constant desire is to use the Word of God to present the Gospel message, as it is only in this way that folks can be saved. Jesus did not say, "Go into all the world and win arguments with every creature."
Throughout the following text, the argument given by Roman Catholic apologists will be labelled "Catholic Answers". The Christian reply will be labelled Biblical Response.
