* The Realm of the Jazz *

just a little page to let the kids these days learn just what 'the jazz is all about'.....
Greetings Earthlings!

SO, this is a page. My page. I put what I like on it, what I feel I should, what I want. It is in a way for me, but I know that there are others interested in reading my writing, and i like sharing my writing (or is it myself?) with others. SO, read what you want, think what you want, leave a message if you want, and have a day. Or a night. whichever way you like it- sunnyside up, overeasy, or hard-boiled.

THE TENETS:
a)Observe Absurdity
b)Accept Antics
c)Bask in the RIDICULOUSNESS
d)AFFIRM LIFE
footnotes: b) only if desired, and preferably after c)

Anywyay, i'm Jasmine...i'm 20 and i live in Peterborough, Ontario where I attend Trent University, but I am from, and still visit and stay with my parents who still live in Ottawa, Ontario.

HEY NOW! Take a gander at my tapelist!

Jasmine's tapelist

What do i like? What do i do? Hmmmm. I love music, drumming with my djembe, interesting and colourful art (mostly Surrealists and Picasso), the colour blue, the stars, the sea, the moon. I love to laugh, to dance,to drive people crazy,to drink wine, and engage in thought-provoking, soul-tickling, feeling-inducing and psychedelic experiences.
I go to concerts and shows and drum circles wherever and whenever I can. I make hemp jewellery, sew, and I read alot (Tom Robbins is my favorite author...I also love Margaret Atwood, Alice Walker, Douglas Coupland, Douglas Adams, John Fowles, the Beats,... and many others). I'm on the internet once in a while, but mostly only Trent e-mail. oh, and i write a lot. I usually just write to keep myself sane these days, mad scribbles in my book, feelings that ooze out of fingers and pens, same old same old...and essays for school. (hey, Anthropology and Sociology...) maybe i will write new and different manifestoes. i should.

Check out some of my writing if you so desire.......

the most amazing DJ of all time is Trevor Walker, for sure....he Dj's in Ottawa, and i saw him at the Om festival as well, (in the summer near Guelph)He works almost every night, and in an article in the Ottawa X-press he said that his greatest joy is to be able to make people dance, to make them feel freedom and joy through dance...he's damn good at what he does. The only category the stuff he spins can fall under is beats and music that makes me, you, anytone dance and dance despite dehydration, exhaustion and sore feet. It's exhilerating, it's uplifting, it;s a magical mystical experience some call 'house' music.....he mixes in Indian, African drumming, latin and brazilian beats, deep funk and soul with an underlying, neverending beat that all flows together like a river of bliss, transcending thoughts and reality....until you become that river and all you can do is FLOW....yay Trevor Walker. IN ottawa, tuesdays at the Well, Thursdays at Mercury Lounge....must go, must dance, must feel.

Some great bands I have seen live in Peterborough (at the good 'ol Red Dog Tavern):

* The Burt Neilson Band * (from Thunder Bay, ON. i have a bootleg and their CD, i love them!)

The Fat Cats (from Hamilton, Ontario)

One Step Beyond (just have their latest CD, i think they're from Montreal - the bassist Sandy is also in another great bacnd from there, called Jazz Pharmacy)

When I was out west this summer, i caught some great music as well....(by the way most of these bands are primarily funk/groove, my favorite party music!

Otis (from Lake Louise- I saw them in Nelson, BC, and then followed them to Invermere, BC.)

Arthur Funkarelli, from Nelson,BC

The Noise Upstairs, also from Nelson, BC- the guitarist is in Funkarellis too.

Check 'em out if you get a chance, but be prepared to dance your ass off!

I have many friends that are great musicians, and soon i will put in links/make pages for them...especially my bestest friend * Glenna * --her debut CD "Opus" is out now.....you can get it in almost any music store in Canada if you tell the title...or you can e-mail me about getting one, I have a bunch to sell!
*WARNING* these links are out of commission, these nutsies failed to inform me as to what the poopoo is going on....BigFish is prettymuch a done deal for now, i think....Jordy fled to the mountains, Cory drifted West too, and Adam FOgo is in Gammahoochee , a funky asss buncha boys i used to shake my bonbon to back in the old days when they were the Regal Beagle Polyester Trio..they are great, and apparently the crticial masses of the BIG O (Ottawa) are beginning to wise up to the deal. you should too, punk! As for Ian, and Shake....well what do you expect from Ian? Or a bunch of silly hippies? Same thing...hee hee.

My friends Jordy and Corwin are in the eclectic, eccentric-and-as-tasty-as-apple-pie band Big Fish Eat Little Fish , and have a great page so check it out.
My friend Ian is in the band Shake , they play Thursdays at the WHipping Post in Ottawa, lots of fun! check out their page that Ian made, and bug him if it is outdated, i do!!
ugh! Eventually I will have a music page, instead of all this insanity. I wish i had more time to work on this, i'm sorry it is so mediocre! Well, write to me, even if it is to complain! I love getting mail of any kind.

hey look this is funny.... 'Jive Talkin'

Please sign my guestbook.... here is the new topic....INSANITY. what is it to you, what makes someone crazy. are we asleep or awake? what is selfishness, does it really exist or was it created, what does it mean to you?are we really alive? what do we do now? what are words? how do they work for you, do you like them? who are 'we'???????

for some odd and incomprehensible reason my guestbook entries for the past 2 years have been erased. this makes me sad. 2 years of many people i knew and didn;t know's thoughts and ideas and feelings, all lost in the oblivion of cyberspace or beyond. maybe that's where they belong, but i liked to look at them, and i'm sure others would ahve gained things or thoughts things after taking a gander or two at the wise words of strangers. asi es la vida, no?
