Captured Heart

We've both been hurt and we're both afraid
of giving into love and getting hurt again.
It's hard to trust once you've been betrayed,
all you can think about is the risk of pain.

But I promise your heart's safe with me.
I'm not a player nor do I intend to be.
I will always treat you tenderly,
cause your happiness is my top priority.

I could tell you were special right from the start,
It only took a day for you to capture my heart.
All I could ever ask for, I saw in you,
and I hope that I can be all you'll ever need too.

You stole my heart and I gave you my soul.
I'll stay by your side until you're gray and old,
helping you through troubles as they unfold.
You'll never again have to face the world alone.

I'll do my best to keep tears from finding your eyes.
I'll make you smile after a long day at work,
do my best to make you laugh when you want to cry,
and I will be all ears when you need to vent.

And if I should leave this world before you do,
a part of me will carry on through you.
My spirit will always remain by your side,
loving and protecting you 'til we meet again.

You'll always have my love burning inside your heart,
it will keep you warm when life gets cold.
For there is no greater force in the universe,
than this love I have for you inside.
