Work in a well lighted area. You will be able to see the little things on your model much better with more light. Fluorescent lights distort the light on the model so stay away from those. Try to find lights that you can posistion or move around. Articulated desk lamps (sold at office stores or home improvement stores) work the best for this. 100 watt bulbs are the best, but ones with lower wattage don't give enough light.
