BOW Instructor Training Camp

Submitted by Barbara Pulliam, BOW Coordinator

If you would like to help teach women about outdoor skills such as fishing, hiking, hunting, canoeing, horseback riding, wildlife identification and more, this workshop is for you!!! The KDFWR is holding an Instructor Workshop for their Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program September 10-11 at camp Webb in Grayson, KY. Becoming an Outdoors-Woman is a national program which seeks to overcome some traditional boundaries and teach women skills in outdoor recreation. The Kentucky chapter of BOW has been holding weekend workshops three times a year for the last four years. Kentucky was even host to the first International Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Rendezvous in 1998. The program has now moved to a new level and is seeking teacher trainees for the growing workshops. Learn all about Kentucky’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Program, discuss gender issues, get tips on teaching techniques, meet new friends and have lots of fun. Teachers attend BOW weekend workshops and teach four-hour classes on their subject. Of course, teachers also have free time to fish, hike, relax or attend other outdoor skills classes. Lodging and meals are provided, please bring your own linens. If you are interested in training to be an instructor for Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshops and their spin-offs, please contact Barbara J. Pulliam, KDFWR, at (800) 858-1549.
