SULTAN BAZAAR

One of the oldest streets in Hyderabad, it is located at right angles to the erstwhile British Residency compound (now a women's college). It is a long, straight lane in Kothi flanked by a number of shops on either side. The road also leads to another shopping lane - Badi chowdi where the age-old Hanuman temple has become a landmark. "Sultan Bazaar", as the street is known, is indeed a priceless bazaar. All kinds of requirements from furnishings, clothing, crockery, jewellery, footwear to vegetables are available in this bazaar. The shoppers include house wives, office-goers and students from nearby colleges. The Jain temple located on this busy street is yet another landmark and proudly presents some of the oldest buildings that have stood the test of time. Though a not-so-wide lane, the Sultan Bazaar accomodates street vendors, pedestrians and vehicular traffic too!
