ST. MARY'S CHURCH

Exuding grandeur and grace, the 150 year old majestic St. Mary's Church is located on the busy Sarojini Devi road. Designed and built in 1847 on the lines of a chapel in Ireland, the church has a tall tower crested by a crucifix. It also has a spacious courtyard and a flight of steps leading to the arched doorway. The church is simple yet ornate with stained glass windows and high ceilings. The main altar has a huge crucifix and two altars at the sides have the statues of Mother Mary and St. Patricks. The tower has four big bells that ring to herald dawn or dusk. The silence and the divinity that pervades in and around the church wanes away the roar of traffic and provides peace and contentment to all those who come here to pay their obeisance.
