Views From Inside the Museum Building

This little grindstone was made from a piece of a log and the stone from a piece of rock from the fireplace of the first house, my parents, George and Katie Hartwell, lived in after their marriage in 1868, near Chilicothe, Missouri. The log and stone were picked by Dad on a visit to the old place. In later years he made the little grindstone for me in 1890, when I was 15 years old.

This measuring wheel was donated by Mrs. Wilbur Lala.

The plumbline shown above was donated by Naomi Duntz.

John G. Burtch - Swan Township, whittled this rolling pin from a cottonwood tree for his wife, Laura Burtch.
