Christmas Notions

Christmas is the time to trim the tree and deck the halls. A time for making snowmen, drinking hot coco, and reuniting with loved ones. Can you use Phantom flair while keeping true to the meaning of the season? Absolutely, try some of the ideas below for a truly festive and Phantom Christmas. Oh, for goodness sakes use what you have around the house or get the materials at the dollar store.

Tree

ALW Tree

Materials:
An artificial Christmas tree
Assorted base ornaments: hearts, angels, apples
Red, blue, and white ball ornaments
Garland (red, blue or white)
2 strings of blue lights
Primary ornaments: chandeliers, phantoms, roses
Angel for treetop
Twist ties
Ornament hangers
Icicle ornaments

To start individually affix each light to a branch end with a twist tie. You will get better coverage per strand, and the end result is much nicer. Add your garland. Now put on the base ornaments. These help fill out the tree, but they aren’t the stars of the show. Keeping to my theme, I used angels, apples, and hearts. That honor goes to the primary ornaments, the good ones you want to see. Here I used Phantoms, Mardi Gras mask beads, and even a chandelier. Finish off with icicle ornaments. The end result should look decadent.

Flowers

Holiday flowers

Materials:
Vase
Christmas ribbon
Pine cones, ornaments on florist picks
Roses in assorted colors

This is a very simple arrangement. Place the roses together in a pleasing bouquet and edge around them with the ornaments and pine cones. Place the arrangement in the vase and finish with a festive ribbon. You can also put some of the ornaments among the rose to unite the theme.

Sculpted Ornaments

Materials:
Kid’s craft dough
Template
Pencil
Mask pin (optional)
Rose stamp (optional)

For these projects make sure you use a kid’s craft dough that can be dried. You can pick up four-packs of 5oz cans in most stores for under a dollar. Simply use your templates to trace the mask shape on the dough for the full masks. For the half masks I used a pin as a form and molded the dough then lifted it off to dry. For the roses I used a foam stamp, but you could make all three with templates if you wished. Remember to poke a hole near the top so you can hang them. Also remember to never let any of the dough dry on a pin or stamp.
