Notes:  John Tudor and Todd Worrell combined on an eight-hit, one-run performance.  Kansas City scored first after Sundberg, Motley and Balboni singled. The Royals then tried a suicide squeeze, but Buddy Biancalana failed to connect and Darryl Motley was out on his way back to third.  The Cardinals turned a leadoff walk and a one-out ground out in the third inning into their first run, then scored on a Cesar Cedeno double in the fourth and a misplayed line drive by Lonnie Smith in the ninth.  The Royals tried scoring Jim Sundberg from third on a Steve Balboni pop up in the fourth inning, but Terry Pendleton made an over-the-shoulder catch and a perfect throw to the plate.

Thanks Richard!
