his first NFL start led his team to a 3-0 lead in the first half. San
Francisco’s Steve DeBerg passed for 135 yards in the
second half to bring his season total to a club-record 3,121 yards, surpassing
John Brodie’s 3,112 yards set in 1965. Ottis Anderson scored on a six-yard run
with 2:53 remaining to lift the Cardinals to their fourth victory of the year. Anderson gained 129 yards
on 27 carries and set an NFL rookie rushing record with his eighth 100-yard
game. Carl Allen’s interception in the
final two minutes preserved the Cardinals’ victory.
