Notes:  The Royals even the series at 2 by slugging their way to a 5-3 triumph.  Aikens homers in the first and second innings, becoming the first player ever to achieve a pair of 2-homer games in one World Series.  The four-run first inning sends Phillies starter Larry Christenson packing.  The Royals log four consecutive extra-base hits in the fourth.  The big lead holds up although Leonard needs late help from Quisenberry as Philadelphia scores single runs in the seventh and eighth innings.  Dickie Noles throws a curve at George Brett’s head and Jim Frey storms out of the dugout, fuming, and home plate umpire Don Denkinger issues warnings to both teams.

Thanks Richard!
