Notes:  Larry Gura surrenders two second-inning 1-run shots over the left field wall, but Manager Jim Frey leaves him in the game and that decision pays off.  Gura pitches a complete game (including 4 strikeouts) in this long-awaited playoff win over the rival Yankees.  The Royals tie the game up in the bottom of the second on a Piniella fielding error, with Frank White driving in Amos Otis and John Wathan.  Aikens drives in two more in the third when Ron Guidry loads the bases with 2 out.  Barra pulls him after the inning and puts in Ron Davis to start the 4th.  George Brett tacks on a solo shot, and Wilson puts the icing on the cake in the 8th with a two-run double.  Paid attendance for the game is more than 2,000 over seated capacity of 42,598.

This recording switches to WPIX coverage at the top of the 5th inning.

Thanks Jeff!
