Notes:  Steve Grogan tossed three touchdown passes to lead New England past Chicago.  Grogan (20 of 35 for 244 yards) gave the Patriots a 14-0 lead on scoring passes to Harold Jackson and Stanley Morgan following Chicago fumbles.  Grogan’s third touchdown pass was a four-yarder to Russ Francis.  John Smith’s field goals of 21 and 29 yards completed New England’s scoring.  Chicago’s Doug Buffone intercepted 2 passes to set a club career record of 24.
