Notes:  Mario Lemieux gets things started with a typical Mario goal – from behind the net.  Kevin Stevens takes a great rebound off the boards and blasts it past Jim Casey at full speed to make it 2-0.  Mark Recchi gets a great pass from Mario and chips it into the net, then knocks it in again a few minutes later in the middle of a scrum after being knocked on his wallet.  That’s the end of Casey, as Brian Hayward comes in to tend goal.  Broten scores a short-handed goal, but Pittsburgh manages to shut down the “run and gun” attack for the majority of the period.

Frank Pietrangelo comes in for the injured Tom Barasso to start the second period and gives up a short-handed goal to Gagner.  Ron Francis scores goal number 5 for the Pens on a breakaway up the left side.

Dahlen scores number three for Minnesota early in the third period, and Gagner makes it 5-4 with his second goal of the night.  Murphy increases the Penguins lead again with a strange goal, and this time they hang on for the win to take a 3-2 series lead.

Thanks Jim!
