Notes: Philadelphia came back
from a 4-0 deficit to win a 7-6 thriller.
Twenty-game winner Dennis Leonard was unable to survive the Phillies
five-run third inning. Bob Walk, the
first rookie to start a World Series game since 1952, was the winner. Tug McGraw snuffed out a late rally to earn
the save. The Royals struck early as
Otis homered in his first World Series at-bat in the second inning. KC made it 4-0 via an Aikens two-run homer in
the third. The Phillies came to life
with five runs on four hits and a walk in the third inning. The big blow was a two-out, three-run homer
by Bake McBride. Aikens homered again in
the 8th.
Thanks Richard!
