Notes:  Bidding to increase its 3-0 lead in the fourth period, Dallas drove 76 yards to the Detroit one-yard line on 16 consecutive running plays, but failed to score on fourth down. Three plays later, however, DE George Andrie and DE Jethro Pugh tackled Lions’ quarterback Greg Landry in the end zone for a safety as the Cowboys recorded a 5-0 victory in the lowest scoring game in NFL playoff history. It marked the fifth straight game in which the Dallas defense did not allow a touchdown.

Dallas RB Duane Thomas rushed 30 times for 132 yards, QB Craig Morton completed 4 of 18 for 38 yards, and Detroit QB Greg Landry completed 5 of 12 for 48 yards.

This game featured several players who would be famous for different careers later in life:  Dallas RB Dan Reeves, Dallas TE Mike Ditka, and Detroit DT Alex Karras.

Thanks Dan!
