A hiker's paradise in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Lake Tahoe's clear sapphire blue waters are cradled by secluded bays and surrounded by hundreds of trails and mountain peaks. The skies are can be cloudless for weeks on end.
Straddling the California-Nevada state line, the area surrounding the lake is diverse and includes national forests, state parks, nature areas, luxury hotels, campgrounds, resort towns, and casinos. There are a variety of hiking opportunities - ranging from almost flat walking at Fallen Leaf Lake to strenuous hikes in the Desolation Wilderness areas.
