How do we access your products and services ... ?

All of our business is transacted through our representatives or client companies. To locate a Wine Consultant close to you, please call our office at (847) 330-9068. Customer Service can tell you whatever you need to know regarding our wines and spirits, prices, shipping times, etc.

Where do you do business ... ?

We can service only states that allow direct shipment of alcohol (so-called Reciprocal Agreement States) or restricted states where we have made arrangements to legally distribute some of our products, working in partnership with state wholesalers and retailers (these are referred to as Three-Tier States). Fortunately, the list of approved states is always changing. Please consult with your Wine Consultant or call our office, (847) 330-9068, for more information.

How are orders paid ... ?

Our organization is streamlined and highly organized to expend the least amount of administrative costs, and assure you the lowest possible prices. Therefore, all of our orders must be prepaid. Well over 95% of our activity is done by credit card. We can, if arrangements are made, ship COD to certain states or you may send a check to us or your Wine Consultant. Be advised, however, that we cannot hold or set aside scarce product unless we have payment in hand, otherwise it is not fair to our other clients.

Who is Shermer Specialties ... ?

We are a alcohol-licensed retailer headquartered in Lake Bluff, Illinois, with representatives and client companies all over the United States and around the world. We have been in business since 1989, but many of our staff have been veterans of the wine and spirits business since the mid-1970's. Our purpose is to provide you with an extensive, hand-picked selection of high-quality wines and spirits from throughout the planet, at the very best possible prices, in a completely safe and legal manner.

What is your privacy policy ... ?

At no time do we share client information with other companies. All information is confidential.

Why do you charge sales tax ... ?

Alcohol is not like other products that you may have shipped to you from other states without sales tax. Alcohol is licensed, and must be purchased from a licensed retailer. While your representative may accept your order, the transaction occurs for most states at Svehla's Selections, Schaumburg Illinois, or in the case of Three-Tier and certain other states, at a location within your state. Legally, it is as if you are personally purchasing from these licensed locations. Therefore, sales tax must be charged for that domicile, and shown on that invoice. Other companies who ship alcohol without tax shown on the invoice are either doing so illegally, or generating another set of invoices for the purposes of government payment and scrutiny. Svehla's Selections, first and foremost, always operates to the letter of the law, for our protection and yours.

How do you ship ... ?

Most of our orders are shipped via UPS Ground. For some states, only UPS Air or Fedex can be used, if they are the only authorized carrier. In the case of wines from our Rare and Fine Wines Division, for safety and security, we always ship via Air Freight. All deliveries must have a shipping address where we can obtain an adult signature upon delivery.

If you feel that all Americans of legal age should be able to purchase and receive wines and spirits, please visit www.freethegrapes.org.
