I do not believe that the government or any other lawmakers should have a say in the abortion issue. As a woman and a mother, I feel pregnancy is a very personal matter. I strongly disagree with the government trying to intervine and feel they are abusing their powers by doing so. What could be more personal to us than our bodies and I would hope we can hang on to the right to do with them what we want.If the lawmakers are given the power to tell us what we can and cannot do with them we are in big trouble. Perhaps a women has a legitimate reason, such as a health reason or a rape, for choosing to abort her child. Or perhaps she has a selfish reason for doing it, such as a drug habit or just does not want to be a mother. Whatever the reason, it is a right she should have the options to choose without penalty from big government.
