Threats
Biodiversity
Biodiversity is the amount and variety of organisms in one area during a particular time.
3 Threats to Biodiversity
- Polution-
Water polution is the most common type of polution to the earth. This is a danger not only to us, but to all aquatic organisms. For example fish can get clogged gills or the waist could completely destroy something important such as eggs. At times water will wash and mix with surrounding toxins which are hazardous for all things that enter the poluted water. Poluted air can hurt the atmospere causing the ozone to become thinner. These are just some types of problems which arrive with polution, but overall polution is a hazard to any living things health. Slowly it kills living thing.
- Climate Change-
By polution hurting the atmosphere it can change the temperature. When climate change occurs it can alter the environment and growth of certain resources for animals. This might cause a death among organisms if they cannot recieve the needs they need. At the same time other organisms may increase in population. A major concern is that the temperatures will warm up and melt the polar ice caps. In that type of case the oceans would flood over.
- Habitat loss-
By habitat loss there is possibility that needs and conditions for plants and animals to survive will be destroyed. This would kill the plants and animals. Along with habitat loss goes the resources which occupy them. Houses, buildings, and construction of every kind is taking the places of these resources and habitats.
My Position
My view on biodiversity is that everyone needs to take note of it. People need to stop killing forests and getting rid of important resouces. Slowly we will probably kill off our own human kind and every other living organism if we don't stop and take note of all the threats.
