Turkey Hunting

Calling in a Big Tom Turkey in UNIT 1 can seem simple on the first hunt of the season yet be discouraging on the last. (you may want to book early) Hunting the Rio Grande Turkey is a challenging, yet rewarding experience. The "thrill" of the hunt can often be felt as the gobbler approaches the decoys and he begins to "strutt" his stuff. What a beautiful site!

We feel that the most successful way to fill a tag during a spring hunt is to call the turkey to you and your decoys. The Rio Grande Turkey begin their breeding season in mid to late March and will last into late April. The spring season generally begins the second week of April which, thanks to the breeding season, increases the success rate of our hunts.
