Description of the Plantae Kingdom

The organisms in this kingdom help us out a lot. They provide the oxygen we breathe as well as food for us. This Kingdom includes all land plants such as mosses, ferns, conifers, and flowering plants. One of the more important feature on plants is their green color, which they get from the pigment chlorophyll. They use chlorophyll to capture light energy, which helps them to maufacture foods, sugar, starches, and other things. These organisms are multicellular, and autotrophic. They photosynthesize to fix inorganic things into organic molecules. They have a cell wall, but unlike the unicellular cell walled organisms, plants cell walls are made up of cellulose. The cell wall provides support for the cell, as well as protecting it from outside things.

3 Phylum's of this Kingdom

The Bryophyta is one of the many phylums of the Plantae kingdom. They are the only non-vascular plants, which means that they don't contain a system of vascular tissus, which conducts water and other nutrients throught the body. All these organisms can absorb water through their entire body surface. They do not have true organs such as leaves, stems, and roots. Instead of roots they hav erhizoids which provide anchorage and nutrient uptake from the soil. This group is mainly comprised of the mosses and liverworts. Another phylum is the Angiospermophyta otherwise known as the anthophyta. These organisms typically have flat leaves which helps them have more efficient collection of solar energy, as well as a better rate of photosynthesis. They have a much stronger cell wall than some of the other plants. In these organisms the color or scent of the flower attracts specific animals to them and their nector, which then the nector gets on the animals an dis dropped off at another plant therefore causing reproduction.

Syagrus romanzoffianum

The Syagrus romanzoffianum otherwise known as the Queen Palm, is one of the many beautiful palm trees around. This kind of tree can get up to 50ft tall and 12-15ft wide. They grow at a moderate to rapid pace. There trunks are tall and slender, and this tree also has olvie sized round orange fruit with a coconut like hard pit. This tree can also have flowers on it. They usually have a cluster of white flowers emerging from the center. If you want to see flowers i would keep an eye open in early to mid summer because thats when they flowers tend to be most common. This kind of trees grow best in full sun, and they need regular irrigation one to two times a month to get a large tree. They can be found in all the hotter areas of the world such as California, Florida and South America.
