Timothy Michael Lamberti - Goodbye

~GOD'S CHILD AND YOURS~
(This was read at Timothy's service)

I'll lend you for a little time
A Child of Mine, He said
For you to love the while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.

It may only be a day or two
Or hours two or three
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you
And though his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay
Since all from the earth return,
But there are lessons taught down here,
That I want this child to learn.

I've looked this wide world over
In search of parents true
And from the throngs that crowd Life's Lane
I have decided You.

Now will you give him all your love
Nor think the labor vain
And hate Me when I come to call
To take him back again?

I fancy that I heard them say
Dear Lord, Thy Will Be Done.
For all the joy this child will bring
The risk of grief we'll run,

We'll shelter him with tenderness
We'll love him while we may
And for the Happiness we've known
Forever grateful stay.

And should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we had planned
We'll brave the bitter grief that came
And try to understand.

~LITTLE ANGELS~

When God calls little children to dwell with him above
We mortals sometimes question
The wisdom of His love.
For no heartache compares with the death of one small child
Who does so much to make our world seem
Wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to his fold,
So He picks a rosebud before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them,
And so He takes but few, to make the land of
Heaven more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult, still somehow we must try...
The saddest word mankind knows will always be
"GOOD-BYE."
So when a little child departs, we who are left behind
Must realize God loves little children...
Angels are hard to find.

~BROKEN PROMISE~

Learning that you would not grow old after me was the hardest part.
I have come to know that missing you will never stop.
Wherever I go you will always be with me.
And I only need to think of you to feel that bittersweet mix,
The love of your presence....the pain of your absence.
My beautiful baby became a broken promise.
A piece of a generation forever lost.
Taking with him a piece of all that I am...
Or will ever be.
Yet our bond is one that not even death can break.
We will embrace...again.

~IF TEARS WERE A STAIRWAY~

They say memories are golden,
Well, maybe that is true, but we never wanted
Memories, we only wanted you.
A million times we've needed you a million times we've cried...
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still,
In our hearts you hold a special place no one else could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway and heartache build a lane,
We'd walk the path to Heaven and bring you home again.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same...
But as God calls us one by one...the chain will link again.

~MY TIMOTHY~

I miss the touch of your sweet hand,
On my shoulder as you clung,
Your heart so frail, your skin so soft,
My wish is for your protection.
In God's dear hands I've placed you,
But in my heart you'll always live.
My beautiful Timothy, my precious one,
I'll miss you everyday.

~OUR RAINBOW~

You're on the other side of our rainbow
You're our pot of gold
All of the dreams that our tomorrow's hold

We see you there shining bright
A beckoning in the evening's light
The brightest star for our delight
You're our moon in the sky above
The Heavenly soft glow of all God's love
Delicately reaching out with a gentle touch

You're the little boy of our dreams
You captured our hearts
You enhanced our lives right from the start

You brought us joy...never pain
Our lives now will surely never be the same
We got to touch your tiny hand for a while
But now your daddy gets to hold you
And see your beautiful smile

You're on the other side of our rainbow
You're our pot of gold
You're all the dreams
That our tomorrow's hold........
