Race One Begins...
The call for post for the first race on the racecard is in. The track is listed as muddy and it's starting to rain harder...not the conditions trainers were hoping for on this mid-april day. This maiden for 2 year old fillies has attracted a large field.

Let's have a look at the favorites while they load in the gate:

It looks like Stardust's Glory, who has a good post position, is going in as a very tempid favorite. Hard to pick one in this field. These 2 year olds have never been raced and most come from great lines. The close favorite is Iamagoddess, sister to NCh. Torch Bearer. Betters also like Think Both Ways, a filly out of NCh. Torch Bearer, as well.

The fillies are set and loading in to the gate. The 11 horse is having some problems settling. Looks like they're all ready...

And They're Off!
Think Both Ways breaks cleanly and settles behind Goldust and All Excited, who off the the early lead. Stardust's Glory seems settled in 6th just off of My Juliet and Crowd Preacher. Back 2 to Night Wind, Iamagoddess, True Nirvana, Flight Of Destiny. (ARS) Golden Hifliger and Falling Darling are back another 5, trailing the field after Rose To The Moment, who seems to have stumbled coming out of the gate.

Coming around the turn, All Excited moves up to take the lead and Goldust starts to fall back. Think Both Ways still settled in third. True Nirvana is moving up and picking off horses. Night Wind, asked for more run, seems to have it. My Juliet and Crowd Preacher battle it out for forth. (ARS) Golden Hifliger asked for more run, but Falling Darling is still moving up! Back 3 lengths to the rest of the field, with Rose To The Moment trying to make up ground on the inside. The quarter in 23 and change! These fillies are fluanting their speed! Flight Of Destiny blocked is blocked in, and now moving up around the 4th and 5th spot horses.

Coming down the strech, True Nirvana goes 4-wide around horses. Night Wind trying to find her stride but failing. My Juliet is fading! Crowd Preacher has no where to go behind Think Both Ways and a fading Goldust. Stardust's Glory picking off the horses, closing! With 2 furlongs to go, it's Think Both Ways on the lead, True Nirvana, Stardust's Glory, with Iamagoddess making her bid! She's moved up to 4th! Night Wind continues to drop back, Crowd Preacher blocked in, My Juliet now struggling to hold 6th. That's Moonlit at the back being pulled up. All Excited flat out as the run towards the finish! The rest of the field trails.

Iamagoddess refuses to slow down. She's really moving now that in the clear...but she's not enough! It's True Nirvana at the wire!! A photo for 2nd between Think Both Ways and Iamagoddess. Stardust's Glory to cross in 4th. Falling Darling a close 5th. The All Excited, late to close, then Crowd Preacher. Goldust was caught in traffic for a 8th. The rest of the field follows...what a win for True Nirvana! She looked like she had more to give! A filly to watch.

What a great race to start the day off here at Windsong Downs. Never too early to start looking at champion 2 year olds. NCh. Torch Bearer certainly had a mark on this race, with his sister at place and daughter at show. Our next race on the card is another maiden for 2 year old colts. 10 minutes to post!
