Problem Conclusion

The goal of my research was to find the average height of sophomore males with shoe sizes above size 11, and to compare it to the average height of freshman males with a shoe size above size 11. These populations are from NHS. My hypothesis was that the sophomore population would have an average height above the freshman population’s average height. I predicted that the average sophomore male’s height with a shoe size of above size 11 would be 5’11”.

After I surveyed all of the sophomore and freshmen males I came up with these numbers. Out of all of the freshman guys, 11 had shoe sizes of size 11 or a bigger size. Their average shoe size was size 12.5 (rounded) and their average height was 70.5 in. or 5’10. 5”. In the sophomore class, the number of students with a shoe size of above size 11 was 16 students. Out of these 16 male sophomore students the average shoe size was a size 12 (rounded) and the average height was 71.125 in. or just above 5’11”.

After looking at the results of the survey, I found that both my hypothesis and prediction were accurate. The average height of the sophomore males was .625 in. above the freshman male’s average height. I predicted that the average height of the sophomore males was 5’11” with shoe sizes over size 11. As I stated previously, the average height of the sophomores was 5’11”. I have found a problem, made a hypothesis and a prediction, did research, analyzed the research and wrote a conclusion over my results.
