Welcome to my little corner of cyberspace. Here you will find lessons and links to useful sites if you are a teacher. There's pictures and links to Coronation Street if you are a fan. The pictures of my dog probably only appeal to family and friends, but they are here too. Feel free to look around and make yourself at home. I'll put the kettle on shall I?

Now then. I am a high school english teacher and have been for 16 years. Here are pictures which show how teaching can take an average happy little girl and turn her into a bitter, unhappy wretch

Because of what so many years of teaching the same materials had done to me, I decided it was time for a change. Rather than plucking the same old lessons from my filing cabinet, blowing the dust off and teaching them over and over, year in and year out, I looked to the web for some fresh ideas. It can be a long and tedious process. There are a lot of sites promising lesson plans and ideas. You have to find them, sift through them to find the appropriate grade level and then modify them to meet your needs. Well, I have listed several of the sites I found to be useful and appropriate to english and media at the high school level. I hope you find them useful too.

I am also an avid fan of the British soap opera Coronation Street. I know that there are many of us out there who enjoy the show. It has such great writing and the acting is superb. I feel more like I'm watching real life than a television show. It is so much more realistic than any other show on the air waves. Just in case you feel the same way I do and would like to find out more about your favorite show and its stars, I've included several links to interesting Corrie related sites.

Finally, my other great interest in life is my dog, Kelly. Or Kelly Ann when she is in trouble. She is a wonderful dog who has brought great joy to my life. I got her from the humane society when she was only 4 weeks old. I knew she was the one for me from the first moment I laid eyes upon her. She grew into quite the funny-looking pooch, with huge ears and short legs. From the looks of her, and close as the vet can judge, she has a little of everything in her make-up. Corgi, collie, daschund and rotweiller. If you like dogs or are just curious about what that sort of mixture looks like, I'll share a few Kelly pics with you. I may even include a photo or two of my husband. He is a pretty important part of my life as well. And, it'll keep him from getting jealous of the dog.
