Our Trip To Chicago

~CHICAGO~

The SIDS National Conference was in Chicago this year. I decided take the girls for the conference and a "mini" vacation. We left on Friday afternoon and came back Sunday night...so you see what I mean by "mini". We had a great time! It was Nick and Jess's first time flying. Nick was sick the whole trip, running a fever, so when you see her looking pretty puney in the pics. you will know why.
The Conference was not very good for me this year. The main reason I wanted to go, was to see Chicago, and to get to see SIDS parents Shannon & Bob. They are some great people from the east coast. We met over the internet, and I got to meet them in person last year at the SIDS National Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Another SIDS mom attended the conference too...Keri. She will be in some of the pics.
The only good thing SIDS has brought me is some really great friends. I think our children have brought us together.
The Conference was in Oak Brook...a richy rich suburb of Chicago.

I really loved Chicago!

I can't wait to go back again!

Here we are on the plane.

On Friday night we went to McDonalds. It was in this mall across from our hotel. It was the neatest McDonalds I have ever been in. The girls just loved the photo booth.

The Conference had a memorial Service On Saturday evening at a nearby church.
They read the names of our deceased children, and we lit a candle for them.
They gave us all Certificates Of Rememberance's

The Memorial Service was very nice, and emotional.

Shannon, Keri, and I after the Memorial Service.

We made Bob get in a pic. with us.

On Saturday night, after the Memorial Service we all went into Chicago to eat dinner at the "Hard Rock Cafe". It was a very nice time. We had to wait for almost an hour for a table...The kids got a bit weary of waiting.

Keri & I...

See how "HAPPY" they all look...lol...

Ok...Smile and look "Happy"...

Smile Jess!

Shannon & Bob.
They are the greatest people!

Keri...looking pretty as ever...
You just can't imagine how sweet this lady is!

Here are Shannon's Parents.
Margherita & Jeffery
I am so glad I got to meet them, really nice people!

We sat at this huge long table. I would have liked a round, so we could have talked more...

On Sunday morning, we were up and out of the hotel for sight seeing. So, off we went. I gave Leonae the job of "offical navigator". Which meant she had to read the map and tell me which high way to get on. We had followed Bob the night before, so I was pretty sure we could find our way back to the city. I had read in the visitors guide about a Trolley service that stopped all over the city. We decided to find a place to park, and look for the Trolley. Finding a parking place in Downtown Chicago is no easy task...let alone affordable. It was pouring down rain, so we stopped in an Osco Drug and bought 3 umbrellas. When we walked out of the store, we saw a Trolley driving by just a block away...so off we ran to catch it.

Our First Stop...
~Navy Pier~

If you look real close you can see the girls standing there.

Leonae wanted to ride the Ferris Wheel...I really don't care for Ferris Wheels...they scare me...
This is the Worlds 2nd Largest Ferris Wheel. The largest is in London, England.

The girls thought it was so funny I was afraid...ha ha...not funny!

Ok...I sucked it up...and managed a smile.

The view from the top...Pretty Cool!

This is from the end of the pier.

The Anchor from the USS Chicago.
