Shaft
Shaft
Samuel L. Jackson
Man o Man. Two seconds into the opening credits and I was already renaming this movie. From Shaft to Shaft’s Shaft. The credits for this movie reminded me of a cheap tawdry porno. I just was wondering if I was going to be able to sit through the whole movie. After the opening credits however the movie improved tremendously. I just somehow couldn’t figure out why the first scene was included. What was the point of showing Shaft (Jackson) getting it on with some woman? Ok I am getting ahead of my self. Shaft is the 2000 version of the 1970’s movies, and it is just that. I have probably seen the other shaft movies but I don’t really remember them. Shaft is like most television and movie detectives, he doesn’t play by the rules. He beats up people and takes unusual liberties. (I’m getting off in a tangent again) It follows N.Y.P.D detective John Shaft (nephew of the 1970’s Shaft), on his quest to capture a spoiled little rich boy who has committed murder but got off on bail and fled the country for two years. Walter Wade Jr. (Christian Bale) returns to the US and is captured by Shaft only to go to court and be released on bail again without a passport. Wade then decides to go after the only witness to the crime, Diane Palmeiro, a waitress at the restaurant the murder happened at. He enlists the help of kingpin Peoples Hernandez, only to get things all messed up. So this is the story line. The movie was delightful.
