August 19, 1998. The Wanner Site is located about eleven miles north of Smith Center, Kansas. This view is the way it looked on August 19, 1998. The "holes" already in the site are the results of erosion and the owners grandchildren getting the a head start on excavation.
August 23, 1998. This is the first day of digging at the site. Nice and hot today, temperature is 101, and no shade at the site. Very little breeze either, but this is fun, so digging begins.
