What the Fuck is a Short Bus Kid? Small, tight-knit communities in Kansas. Small schools. Small buses. This is where we are from, this is what we're about. The Short Bus represents our youth that we will not let go. It represents a vibrant and imaginative time that many people try to foget about as the become "adults." It's our mode of transportation. Our vessel. It's our Pirate Ship as we travel across the country spreading the gospel of Lawrence, KS and the Wakarusa Punks! Some feel the short bus can only be associated with certain groups of people and is derogatory. But this isn't so. We want to make our name synonymus with being young, energetic and positive. And what better way to encapsulate youth than through a brightly colored bus! We've all been on a bus, and in truth, we ARE short bus kids. And very proud of it. It may not be understood by all yet, but we want to make it clear: the short bus is for the revolution! And we won't stand for coporate rule and the domination of the many by the few! We won't stand for genetically-modified food, polluted tap water, polluted air, and the destruction of the environment and the animals in it! We won't stand for FBI hits and media disortions of the truth! And we won't stand for the exploitation of workers both in America and abroad for the gain of the capitalist imperialists! This is OUR time, this is OUR bus, this is OUR youth! This is OUR celebration!! We sing about the importance of sunsets, bikes, gardens, costumes, dancing and above all living life for yourself, doing-it-yourself, and working within your community. These are the ways of the Wakarusa Punks. We are NOT social-security numbers, we are NOT employees, we are NOT citizens in a representative and fair democracy, and we are NOT a commodity!
