punk rock sux a caribou's ass
our thoughts on punk
To understand what the kidz are about, you have to understand why we aren't a punk band. We play punk music, ?right?, but we are the anti-punx. When people start worrying more about who's a poser and who likes this band, saying, "they suck", and worries more about whats considered "punk", then the force behind the movement is dead. Punk is a stagnant scene. There are serveral bands today that are still trying to make a difference. We're trying to be one of them. We don't care if punk is dead, we never aspired to be punk by anyone else's standards. We do what we feel is right, we do what we want, and we try to make a positive change, and NOT just in the scene. Yeah, maybe we don't always sing about it, but would you really want to hear 50 new songs about how much we change things? I know i don't. We do this in other ways. Giving away free tapes, playing benefit shows, taking a clear stance for what we believe in. We don't give a shit about "posers" or the different factions of punk rock (i.e.- skins, crusties, pop-punks, whatever you wanna call yrself). Punk has splintered into different little factions arguing and name-calling all because they disagreed over what the word "PUNK" meant. Sounds a little too much like a certain religion if you as me...(thats the christianity comparison, in case you morons didn't get it). And we here at SBK think it's a totally worthless cause to argue about. Punk rock is music. Get over it. We're more interested in starting something new, something that belongs to us. Re-opening minds and trying new things. Don't get me wrong, we love punk rock and are somewhat fascinated with some aspects of punk, but we're not going to use that as a reason to think we're better than someone else, or to believe we're right and you're wrong. Those aren't things punk can define, and isn't something we want to participate in. No competition. Effort. A sense of community and tolerance. We don't want a fuking war over this, and we encourage everyone (i.e. bands, writers, activists, anyone) to get involved if they want.
Help us end the punk rock industry.
Peace, Yuk and the Kidz
To make this a bit clearer...(10.99)
Ok, it's come to my attention that a lot of people out there think we are against all things considered "punk" and hate everything to do with the KC scene. Obviously if they read this web page and got that idea, they're a total moron and i hate them (hehe), BUT! This isn't so. We're simply telling the elitists to fuk off. We don't want 'em here anymore. This scene should be about everyone, not just "punk" kids. "Wah wah wah, punk this punk that." Shut up. One more thing. To me, a scene isn't a place to have fights. That's the kinda bullshit that rednecks and jocks do. If "punks" are so against these other stereotypes, then why do they mimic their macho behavior? And kicking ass in the pit isn't impressive. I don't care if people start a pit. But using it to single one person out or start a fight is fuking wrong. And i shouldn't have to say that. But there are still idiots out there with big dicks and bad attitudes. We'll wait for them to die out. Go back to grade skool you fuk-ups until you can comprehend that life isn't about how tough you can act. Use yr brain. Eat my fuk. I'm too nice.
Peace, YUK.
