Past Shows
Note: a *** indicates the entire band was there.
Saturday, July 21, 2001 @ the Southern Girl's Convention in Auburn, Alabama
w/ Soophie Nun Squad
This was the funnest show on the tour so far, even though it was in a bar. There was a rootbeer keg, it was air-conditioned and everyone there was really excited and ready to dance! It was our last show with Soophie for this tour, and we're really going to miss them!!
Thursday, July 19, 2001 @ the Ark in Gainesville, Florida
w/ Soophie Nun Squad, FIYA and Floor
I'm sure all of you know this, but Florida is fucking HOT. We went to the beach the day before and got sunburned. It was really good to be in the company of Soophie again.
Tuesday, July 17, 2001 @ Indienet in Nashville, TN
w/ The Handshake Murders
This show was fun even though only the bands were there.
Monday, July 16, 2001 @ the BRYCC House in Louisville, KY
a/ Nakatomi Plaza, Countdown to Putsch, Rise Over Run & the Ghostbusters
We met some really nice kids at this show and the BRYCC House is a great place to play.
The kids in Louisville are awesome cuz they have some funk in 'em.
Sunday, July 15, 2001 @ the Skatepark in Columbia, Missouri
w/ the Cuts & We Regazzi
This show was put on by the kids at the Ranch, it was really fun and the kids at the Ranch are really sweet.
Friday, July 13, 2001 @ Vino's in Little Rock, Arkansas
w/ Soophie Nun Squad
Our first show on tour! This show was fun, although everyone in SBk was really nervous.
Joe and Tyler got kicked out of the band on stage, but then rejoined.
Monday, June 25, 2001 @ Pirate House ***
w/ TemEyosKi, Them of Delphi, New Morning Changing Weather
Man. Little Rock kids know how to bring the ruckus and play the most insane and amazing music I've ever heard. TemEyosKi and Them of Delphi were fucking great. It was hot, but that was fun. Mike got sweat in his eyes and had to pour water on them. We debuted our sampler. We swear we won't become nerds. We also played 4 new songs. Andiy breathed fire, Mike took off his pants. The band played Shoes at the Mall twice at the audience's request. Thanks to the Little Rock kids and everyone who came out. We look forward to touring with the Arkansas kids this summer!
Monday, June 11, 2001 @ Pirate House
w/ the Locust, Dead & Gone, Chimera, Olsen Terror
This show was pretty fun. Our set got cut short by a broken guitar string. I'm pretty sure everyone was there to see the Locust.
Thursday, June 7, 2001 @ CoCo LoCo
in Lawrence, KS
w/ Salt the Earth, Abberrant and Mi6
man. for us, this show sucked. that is all.
thanks to our friends and fans who came out
to support us. to the kids from Leavenworth: thanks for sticking around so late, we're glad we were able to get you into the show. bar rock is pretty lame, folks. for the most part.
Saturday, May 26, 2000 @ Lawrence University
in Appleton, Wisconsin. 2 shows.
Man, those fucking Wisconsin kids know what's up! Both of our shows there were amazing! We were wondering if our sense of humor would translate outside of the freakish kc/lawrence scene. We were wondering if we were just going to get beaten up everywhere else we played. But, that wasn't the case in Wisconsin. What a sweet place. Thanks to Shane and all the other kids who made those shows so much fun! We'll see y'all later this summer!
Tuesday, May 22, 2000 @ El Torreon
w/ Vice Squad -- This was a strange show. Ryan took really good pictures.
Saturday, April 21, 2001 @ Volker Park
2nd People's Rally w/ 7 Folds Symphony
This was (in our opinion) the most intense show the SBk's have ever played. They played last right before the march and after a couple of hours of speakers and other bands. A huge storm was coming in and everyone was really nervous about playing because it was outside and looked like it would pour at any second. 4 songs into the set it began to rain really really hard and the black block kids present picked up a tarp and held it over the amps and drums and SBk played 'the People's Rally' song in the rain and the kids present went apeshit. Mike chipped a tooth on the microphone and bled on himself and everyone got soaking wet. If anyone has any pictures of footage of that show, please contact us. Thanks.
March 31, 2001 @ Pirate House ***
with Harum Scarum and Temeyoski and New Morning, Changing Weather
This show was amazing! the SBk's were all there and played 3 new songs (Wakarusa, Life Ain't No Xmas Cake, and You Know?!?). There were over 150 people around that night and the house was packed. The show was back in the big room after the pirates stopped bein' such assholes about their stupid floor. We have some killer footage of kids doing some ridiculous dance moves during the SBk set. If anyone out there would ever like footage of an SBk show just email us at ShortBusKidz@hotmail.com and we'll send you a list of the shows we have.
February 17, 2001 @ Pirate House
matinee show with: the Syndicate, Olsen Terror and JBk.
This show was weird. The pirates decided to have shows in the smaller room cuz they were afraid the big room's floor was about to collapse. So it was really cramped but everyone seemed to have a good time. Only half of JBk showed up so Mike (sbk) played bass and sang for them. man. y'all fucked up. you know?
December 29, 2000 @ Pirate House
This show was fucking nuts! It was: Sobriety Check, Olsen Terror, JBk and SBk. There were over 100 kids packed into the pirate house. During the first Sobriety Check set (first meaning they played twice) 2 windows were broken by kids jumping off of amps into the crowd. During SBk the floor was visibly shaken from the wall by all the dancing and 2 microphones were destroyed during Martha Stewarts Cuttin Cheese. It was a very crazy night and the house was full of positive youth energy. Everyone who attended was witness to the power of our local scene here, which is perhaps one of the best in the country. amen.
December 23, 2000 @ El Torreon ***
This show went really well. It was the official Kids Split 7" release party, even tho all of JBk wasn't there, they kinda played. The Controlled and Red Letter also played. There was a lot of enthusiasm from the kids at the show and it was fun. the end.
August 26, 2000 @ the Pirate Punk House ***
This was the last SBk show for a few months, and it went really well. It was sad to see Brandon, Vince and Adam go, but Adam is coming back! This show was taped. The going away party was a massive fest as about 300 kids (no shit) showed up at the pirate house.
August 4, 2000 @ the Flanders House
We did nothing to prepare for this show. We didn't even make a set list. We played ok. It was really hot. People jumped around and such. Mike Yuk was bored.
July 23, 2000 @ Pirate House***
We played with DS-13 (from Sweden) and Spazm 151(from Texas). Very fun show, Sbk did lots of covers.
July 4, 2000 in Leavenworth on the Fort
This show was a benefit for Leonard Peltier. We played with Derailer, Antagony, Red Thunder, JBK, the Controlled, Black Fire and lots of others. It was really really hot.
June 28, 2000 @ El Torreon ***
This show was with Good Clean Fun, Indiana, the Syndicate and Annie on My Mind. It was the first time I'd seen Annie on My Mind and The Syndicate and I liked both bands. SBK played a good set and the audience got pretty excited. Yuk played the end of the set with no pants and then broke his guitar while casually tossing it aside. Several people were heard to remark, "why did you do that?" This shows that many people are unfamiliar with the sbk tradition of casually tossing instruments aside as they exit the stage. Yuk is currently fixing his guitar with wood glue and a clamp. It'll be back in commission by july 4th. This show rocked. And sbk's set started with "hello, shit. we're sbk. so fuk my suckin' lizard." Amen to Born Against.
BIKE AID Benefit Show. May 19, 2000
We weren't trying to recreate our first show at the pirate house, but the destruction was comparable. We debuted our new song, "Martha Stewarts Cuttin' Cheese." People were tappin their feet and nodding their heads in true indie rock fashion. In fact, i even saw some emo kids crying. I think the song was a success. Given that it's a sentimental piece about lost love. Ok, enough bashing. Fuk you for missing this show, SBK was in full kid mode.
PETA Show - April 1, 2000
Somehow we ended up being the last band to play at this show, but it didn't matter, because there were still tons of kids there to rock out even after 5 hours of sitting inside Gee Coffee ( a punishment no one should be subjected to ) Can we PLEASE get these clubs to allow kids in and out, i think the new rule of having to stay inside is.. uh.. BULLSHIT! This show was really fun, although I missed JBK. I wore their hat. We played with: JBK, Lost Pride, the Controlled, a version of the Mongoloids, Figure 70, and Derailer. It was fun.
Flanders PunK House, March 2000
This show was the debut of the jumping box that everyone has grown to love. We have this show on film, although i haven't seen it yet. We played with the Mongoloids, Death Butt, half of JBK, and Pray for Mojo!
Pirate PunK House, February 12, 2000***
We had fun playing minor threat covers for the pirates. This was a very fun show, Lost Pride played their set twice, and while we played there were massive dog piles and sing alongs. This was Andiy's first show with us and she did Awesome! In the future, there will be many more songs with her doing vox. That is all.
New Years Eve Y2K
This show was fun, Yuk and KiLL were sick and Yuk hadda work til 10pm. So we just played a few songs at a party. We covered "tube disasters" by Flux of Pink Indians as well as "99 Red Balloons" (the 7 seconds version). Meredith was gone, so Yuk had to sing her parts and drooled all over himself while attempting to sing that fast. Thanx.
December 23, 1999 @ Gee*** For those of you who missed the December 23rd show, we hope you eat rotten stuff. We had fun, i dunno how we played cuz i'm in the band. But we met some VR kids and the Pirate Punx from lawrence and they were cool. Rita (our longtime chum) was there and we were really happy to see her. Anyway, thanx to those of you who came. Email us with yr opinions on stuff.
