stop whining. blah blah blah.

August 30, 2001 We're fucking through! We played our last show on Friday, August 17, 2001 @ the Pirate house with Soophie Nun Squad. It was an amazing show full of sing-a-longs, crazy ass dancing and nudity. Thank you ever-so-much to the arkansas kids and the kc/lawrence kids (and the columbia/kirksville kids) for making it such an amazing night. The week before the last show we recorded our 5 newest songs at Junior's Motel in Iowa. We plan to release these songs along with others (all the released and unreleased shit) in the form of a cdr/zine release this fall. (we scrapped the 7" cuz we have no money). The final release will include everything we recorded as the short bus kids (including 'shoes' which we never released) and a zine written by the band members that include favorite memories, final messages, pictures from ks shows and tour and a massive thanks list. It should be available sometime this fall/early winter, and it'll only be $5. We'll try to put some out at Recycled Sounds in KC and the Love Garden in Lawrence. email us with any questions/ideas about all that shit.. Anyway! In other belated news, we got back from tour in one piece! The bus never broke down and we're all still friends!! The tour was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. We'd really like to thank Eli, Marilee, Nate and all the Soophie/Tem Eyos Ki/Arkansas kids for all the help with contact info and booking shows and being such an inspiration to us and for supporting us. We'd also like to thank the Wisconsin kids (shane especially) for being such a dedicated and amazing bunch. We played some of our best shows there and the Wisconsin kids are some of the most kind and considerate kids we've met. Thank you! The list continues: thanks to daniel form gainesville for coming to so many of our shows on tour! thanks to chris and hanna of the devil is electric for helping us with the show in bloomington and supporting us, thanks a ton to the kids in Louisville at the BRYCC House - we REALLY hope to come play there again!!, thanks to wade from positive force and crispus attucks for the show in d.c., special thanks to ailecia for letting us play at the southern girls convention and for the root beer keg!, thanks to ryan and the cedar street house in greensboro, thanks to moshelle and the legion of doom in columbus ohio!, special thanks to eek (our former kc ally and longtime friend) in detroit for letting us sleep at your house and feeding/showering us!! we'll miss you!!!!, thanks to david and the columbia kids at the ranch!, thanks to chris, lazslo, leslie, nick, mike, gail, trevor, tom and especially ryan for driving all over the fucking country to see our shows, and finally and extra special handjob thanks to Daniel and Paul, who roadied for us and helped us out.. we love you guys.
I know it's weird to have a thanks list on a web site... but i just wanted some of the many people who helped us to know they were appreciated, should they ever come across this. Also, to anyone who has emailed us in the past few weeks, we're sorry we haven't written back. Andiy and Mike are just moving back to Lawrence and in the process of finding jobs and settin' up shop. 'Ad Astra per Aspera' (the new band) is up and going and we hope to play some shows this fall. This is the end of the bus era... but with this ending, comes a beginning. And just you fucking wait...

Hey kids, we're on tour right now. Today we're in Greensboro, North Carolina and and we play tonight at the punk house on Cedar Street. Tour has been going very well for us, and we've made a lot of new friends. Unfortunately, this will be the only SBk tour, as Hife and BiLLy are both moving soon. The August 17th show with Soophie Nun Squad at the Pirate House will be the last Short Bus Kids show!! Andiy, Mike and Joe are going to continue working together. Kurt from the Syndicate is going to begin playing drums with them and Dylan from Abberrant is going to play bass. The band will continue to play SBk songs and a new 7" will be out in October. But without two founding members, the SBkids won't be the same band. The bus will remain. More news on the 2 last Kansas shows when we get back, which is in just under 2 weeks. Take care of Kansas and each other! Love, SBk.

We leave on tour in about a week. We now have t-shirts, patches, buttons, stickers, 7"s and 3" cds (homemade). All our shit was made by us! Except the buttons and stickers. Ok. So ALMOST all our shit was made by us! The stickers were made by Hooligan Empire. To see designs for this stuff Click Here If you want to get your hands on some of this shit, send well-concealled cash or a money order to our address listed on the "Totally Useless Shit" page. In other boring news: we're going to record the week after we get back from tour in August. We still love boners and hotcakes, and we wrote a new booty-dancin' song we hope y'all will like. We're playing 2 shows in August up in Lawrence (and hopefully one at El Torreon). Check the SHOWS page for that info. On a sad note, our bassist, Tyler (aka Hife, that's pronounced "hi-fee") is leaving the band in August. We've played with him for about 7 years now, but he's moving soon, and wants to focus on school in his final semester. We'll really miss him and wish him the best of fucking luck! Thank you Tyler for your 7 years on the bus! We love you always. As for the rest of the Kidz, we're working with a friend of ours right now who may be filling in on bass once Tyler departs. And finally, as if anyone really fucking cares, our new 7" will be out sometime in late-September/early-October. The first 100 will be on blue vinyl and have hand-assembled covers. Wooptie shit. We're going to try to play in Manhatten sometime very soon. Otherwise, the August shows are the last you'll hear from us until October with DS-13. Hassah. Take care friends, this won't be updated until after the tour. If we even make it that far. We the proud, the loud, the Wakarusa Punks, are fucking outtie!

The tour dates are posted now, to check those out click here! The SBk's are playing one more show in Lawrence before the tour begins. The show is on Monday, June 25, 2001 @ the ex-Pirate House (300 W. 14th St.) w/ TemEyosKi, Them of Delphi & New Morning, Changing Weather. It should start around 7pm and only cost a couple of bucks. The Kidz are going to record in August for another 7" that should be out by October. We only have about 25 copies of the SBk/JBk split 7" left. We're going to get 100 more before we go on tour, but after that they're gone forever! (hopefully) YAY! So if you'd like to get a copy of "the Kids Split" JBk/SBk 7" (which captures the glory days of the Pirate House on vinyl) the record is $3.50 ppd and you can write us at:

Or come to a show, jerk face. We also have patches, t-shirts and someday buttons and stickers. Sorry we don't have a sweet ass "merch" page up. If you have any questions about that kind of shit, email us at ShortBusKidz@hotmail.com
Thanks and goodnight.

The SBk's played 2 shows so far this spring, both at the Pirate House in Lawrence. The demo tapes are sold out but there are still 7's left. For more info on that email ShortBusKidz@hotmail.com . There are plans to put out a 7" before the tour this summer. More info on that later. The Kidz also plan to record in late June/early July for another new 7" by the end of summer. More stickers and patches are on the way. And maybe T-shirts eventually. You know, all that merch shit that touring bands live off of. Maybe there'll be sbk underpants.
portland is lame.

The Kidz played 2 shows over the winter break: one at El Torreon on December 23, and the other at the Pirate House on December 29th. The Dec 23rd show was the official 7" release party with JBk. Only 2 members of JBk made it to that show, so the 29th was more like a real release party, with over 100 kids crammed into the pirate house, the show was amazing. Debuting at the Pirate House were 2 new bands: Olsen Terror and Sobriety Check. Sobriety Check had actually played a show a few weeks earlier with Good Clean Fun at the Goondocks, but this was their first exposure to a bigger crowd. Also, One Concern reunited to play a set at the show. All in all, it was an amazing nights, many things were broken, windows, mics and a huge gap formed in the floor (now you can see into the pirate house basement from the show room), this just added to the youthful energy and power of the show. Sbk would like to thank all the kids who came out and made these two shows really fun, and Ben from the controlled for repeatedly fixing Mike's mic when it got knocked over at the pirate house. We'll be back in mid-February with Olsen Terror and more at the pirate house. See ya then. Thanks.
