Marcellus Crum

Fought in the Indian wars and met both Wild Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill Cody, who served as scouts in the 19th. My great great uncle. Known to the family as Uncle Cell.
My great great uncle, Marcellus Crum, was a private in Company "G", 19th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry. He was 16 when he enlisted. This photo is the earliest one that I have in my possession. It belonged to his son and later to my great grandmother. (Marcellus was married to my great grandmother's sister). I have perhaps a dozen or so photos of him, mostly when he was much older. The photographer's stamp on the back of this photo says "S. B. Tresslar, Ft. Scott, Kansas", dated 1884. Marcellus would have been 32 yrs old. He is buried in Little Rock's National Cemetery, not far from where I reside. You have my permission to use this photo in your web site, if you so choose. Hope you enjoy looking at one of those old soldiers...it makes those rosters "real."
