One aspect of pinkerton that most people fail to notice is that the entire album (excluding pink triangle, which I believe was made to be released as a single) unfolds as one huge story... starting from River's escape from the life of fame (him dropping out of the public eye and going to college) him being "tired of sex" then fooling around with a girl, lamenting it, then when she begins to pull away he realizes that he truely loves her. "Getchoo" following with the love song to gain her attention, in "No Other One".
Then realizing she isn't worth all the trouble but he still loves her"Why Bother"... Followed by him being so depressed of the lack of affection by the one he cares so much for.
He then Desires the love of somone who truely appreciates him but he cannot touch in "across the Sea" (possibly being symbolic of his desire for a girl but will not allow himself to reach her because of his feelings for the prior g/f).
Then him finally reliving himself of his depression and getting back into "The Good Life". Then finding another girl that he cares about "El Scorcho". Him falling for her and telling her in "Falling for You", Then getting her and Lamenting his sexual activities and finding he doesn't feel the way he tought in butterfly... Just tought I'd tell somebody about my opion of the album and you seem interested...
