The electric factory show in Philly was Thursday night. It was great. since it was actually a local radio station's Christmas show, there were other performers. There was Ash, Fiona Apple, and Tracy Bonham along with Weezer. The show started at 7:00. Ash came out first, they were pretty good. I was suprised at how fast the lead singer played his guitar. There was a lot of moshing, but only in the center front. Fiona Apple came out, and then these guys called the Bloodhound Gang came out and sang stupid songs like "I Wish I Was Queer So I Could Get Chicks." They were really stupid. Tracy Bonham came out, and I don't really like her, but she was pretty good.
There was about a hour wait until Weezer came out, and by then it was 11:00 or so. Brian was the first to appear on stage, standing in the spotlight, holding his hands in the air. Then came the rest of the band.
Rivers was wearing a small black jacket, and under it was a orange t-shirt that said vivo ROME or something like that. Matt was wearing a black t-shirt with white stripes on the sleeves in the adidas style, but it wasn't an adidas shirt. Brian was wearing a tight black long sleeve shirt, and Pat was wearing a plain white t-shirt.
I forget what song they started with, but it might've been "Tired of sex". Between songs Matt did most of the talking. Rivers barely said anything. Matt was jumping around and saying cool stuff. He said stuff like "this next song is off our fourth album". Matt kept on going to the back on the stage in front of Pat, with his back to the crowd. It looked like he was joking around with Pat. In the middle of the act, they left the stage and Rivers came out and sang "Butterfly". The rest of the band came out again, and they played a few more songs. It was the best show I've ever been to.
The best part of the show was when Pat took
a microphone and said:
"My friend says Philadelphia sucks, but I
was like 'no way, man, philadelphia rules!!'"
And then Matt mimicked Pat in a screechy voice and said "I say Philadephia rules!!"
I didn't get to meet the band because you needed a backstage pass...and that was really disappointing.
sorry for the long post.
