A Forgotten hero is no longer
A hero, only forgotten. Longed for
Nostalgia lays locked away behind an
Esoterically cerebral wall, boxed
In damp basements, buried under dust and
Forgotten forget-me-not’s. No one talks,
For fears that hidden memories present
Themselves through whispers of a name. And so
Pandora's box is opened and ascent
Memories of a life lived long ago.

The genesis begins with a cotton
Cape, a multipurpose sun sheath, that gave
Courage and resolve for the impression
To feel larger than life. Then came the brave
Thefts of this cloak of perception trying
To steal the honor, but with the glory
Came far more intimidators vying
For hope to live through more than a story.

The adoration was plentiful yet
A moniker remained distant,
Until a crown labeled the sobriquet
And completed the cape and crown outfit.
The identity made and flashed among
The masses; no longer just a jester,
And never a king; the amusement wrung
Free where entertainment did not fester.

With the fanciful spectacle came the
People to join the pandemonium.
No finer concoction of company
In cohorts and admirers could dumb
Down this sweet, refreshing flavor of friends.
With the cool aid of joyful, whetted hands,
A whimsical elixir made amends
For the eccentric one they all demand.

The attitude that conceived this meager
Existence exploded, quite unguarded,
And oozed through the community eager
To flourish forward and be bombarded
Mercilessly into the minds of all
Who observed, until this blast became lost
In its own brevity until it falls
In on itself. This collapse is the cost
That no matter how strong one is, every
One will forget this foolish memory.

I put my life into your hands
Before we even met,
And started to make future plans
Before things had been set.
A promise made, for you and me,
To start anew, refresh;
A version two for all to see
Where we could fin'lly mesh.

We took the world through leaps and bounds,
Invincible together,
Always followed by happy sounds
Gig'ling behind. Whether
You realized it or not, you
Lifted me higher than
I would ever reach alone; but you
Seemed to have that game plan.

Surrounded in our unity,
Filled with faint happiness,
We could finally live care free
In our quaint carelessness.
Then we got carried away by
The silly games we played;
Always moving higher, we tried,
Instead we should have stayed.

Now that the waves of time have stilled,
I can see how silly
Life was before you came and filled
My daft void. I really
Have come to realize that you
Were just what i needed,
And since the time we said adieu,
I'm somewhat depleted.

Now these are echoes of a worn
Memory. These relics
Of a former lifetime felt more
Natural. Where the slick
Golden bird once soared, from its lame
Ashes life is forlorn;
The world will never be the same
Until you get reborn.
