The Difference between PKMN Gold and Silver & red, blue, and yellow

Like you probably know already, Pokemon Gold and Silver are the next stage in the pokemon series. Some people call it Pokemon 2, because it's so much different then the first 3 games. So, what are the difference's? From what I've seen and played of the games, this is what I can say.

Pokemon Gold and Silver have more Pokemon, 251.

In the games, there are now both female and male types of Pokemon. When you see a Pokemon, either the male or female sign shows up with their names (like when you see Nidoran male and Nidoran female).

Pokemon now know different moves and attacks then they may have in Red/Blue/Yellow, for example. Bellsprouts first attack is a Razor leaf like attack, not like in red, blue and yellow where it doesn't learn Razor leaf till it's a high level. Another example is Pidgey, who doesn't learn Gust untill level 9. But the Pokemon know more then just different moves, they also know new moves. Alot of new moves have been put into the games. It will be fun to see just how many there really are.

The Gym leaders are different also. An example is that instead of battling Brock, a Rock trainer, you fight a total different Gym leader who Trains flying Pokemon. His Pokemon are a Level 7 Pidgey, a Level 9 Pidgeotto and Level 11 Hoho.

Ash is gone, so is Gary. Now there's a new trainer you play as. Plus, instead of picking Charmander, Squirtle and Wartortle you pick between 3 totaly new Pokemon. A water like Lizard called Totodile, a Fire shrew like creature called Cyndaquil and a grass Pokemon called Chikorita.

The World set up is completely different, so forget the old map, because the new one is gonna be nothing like that one. Though, when you finish Gold and Silver, you can head back to the old world.

One cool feature in the game is that your Poke Dex, and Back Pack (where your items go) are alot different. They're more advanced. The Poke Dex is really neat, because all the Pokemon's numbers are changed. So if you memorized all the Pokemon by number, forget about it. Plus, your back pack now organizes it's self into 4 different parts.

The new game features an eternal clock. When you start the game you set it to your time, then as the game goes on it keeps track of time and the day of the week. When night is night, night will be night in the game, when day is day, it will be day in the game, get it? Plus some Pokemon can only be caught at certain times, like at night or day only.

In the new game you can breed your Pokemon and get babies! Not every Pokemon can breed, but they're many new possiblities. They're even some pre-evolved forms of Pokemon like Pichu, and Igglypuff that that you can only by breeding your Pokemon. When you breed Pokemon, the babies can take on moves and stats of their parents. After you breed them you get an Egg. To hatch it you must walk a certain amount of steps. The Pokemon hatched from the egg with always be the lowest possible evolution stage.

A cool option I've found in the game is that there are all new places, like a temple devoted completely to Bellsprout. Plus, you get new Poke Gear, that has your Clock and a Radio. You also get a phone and can recieve phone calls from people you give your number too.

There are rumors about the game, like how you can pick between a male or Female trainer to start off with, but I think these's are only rumors. Sorry folks, but I doubt there's a Girl trainer in the game that you can play.

Gold and Silver will both be released on October 16, 2000. Watch for them!
