Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Sattler Naper, Nebr.

Dear Friends:

We thank you for your kindness in writing us the particulars of the plane wreck that you saw, and it means much to us to have such information.

We are enclosing a picture and newspaper clippings concerning both our son and Charles Porter, who lived in this same county. We knew most of the boys on the plane, but were very close to four, with whom our son did all his training. They were Porter, Jack Lytle, Leland Pope and Barney O'Malley. Our son and these four, all of whom were as fine specimens of young American manhood as could be found, were very close. We were at Fairbury on July 23, when our son was married, and had dinner with the five boys.

Our Son was all one could ask, as I am sure the others were. He had no bad habits--didn't even swear-- but was all boy. He loved life and people, was charitably inclined, and could overlook another's faults and forgive everything except dishonesty. All his friends say that the outstanding virtues they will always remember in him were honesty and truthfulness.

This class of fighter pilots were finishing their training preparatory to overseas service. Incidentally, that particular class had been cited at three different stations as having been the best class ever to pass through those stations.

Our son loved flying and turned down an instructor's assignment in advanced flight in order to go to combat with his close friends.

We hope to be able to come up there next Summer or Fall, conditions permitting, and will be sure to look You up when we do.

Again thanking you for your kindness and. promptness in writing, we are

Sincerely,
Signed (Mr and Mrs Robert N Roberts)
