Chapter Five

Brandy and AJ jumped into his truck and pulled out of the parking lot. They started down the road and no one said anything. Brandy decided that she would break the silence, "What are you so quiet for?" "I dunno just seemed like you are in a hurry to get to school. Wouldn't want you to bite my head off trying to start a conversation," he jokingly remarked. "I'm sorry for being so pushy this morning. I'm really serious about my education and my future career. I'm sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way," she replied apologetically. "Hey, if that's the wrong way to rub me I think I'm in anticipation for the right way. Because damn girl the wrong way felt pretty freakin right to me," He told her looking as if to be 'checking her out' once again. "You know what I mean." "No I want to be serious here. I need to know if your free tonight," he asked her. "I dunno, I was thinking about dinner with one of my professors. My grade is slightly sinking in his class. Maybe he would let me do a little extra credit," she looked at him with a smile on her face. "No I'm just kidding. I'm free tonight, minus a little studying. Why whadya have in mind," she asked curiously. "Well I have to go on tour soon. We are leaving in three days, as you probably already know from Heather, but I was hoping that we could get together and do something special tonight. I was going to do it the night before we left, but everything is so hectic and I really want to spend some time with you," he explained. "Of course. I wouldn't pass up an offer like this," she told him leaning over to kiss him on the cheek. "AJ you are one of the most sweet, most romantic, most wonderful people I have ever met. I'm really glad we got to know each other," Brandy said, touched that AJ wanted to take time out of his busy Backstreet Boy schedule to spend time with her.

They pulled into the college parking lot. He drove up to the main entrance to let her out. She kissed him goodbye and gave him a hug. "Hey who knows your secret admirer might surprise you today," AJ said with a smirkish grin. "Maybe, who knows," Brandy replied smiling back. She got out of the truck and walked to the door. He watched her walk up all of the steps and open the door. He studied her. The way she walked. The way she carried her books. The way she carried herself. He watched her until the tinted door made it impossible to tell that she was even there. Then he pulled away.

He couldn't believe how he had started to fall for this girl. She wasn't even his type, yet she seemed like the one that he would be spending the rest of his life with. She was so serious and mature, and he was crazy and off the wall, but somehow everytime he saw her he just wanted to go over to her and give her a big hug and tell her how much her cared for her. He wanted to tell her that no matter what happened from there on out he would always feel this way for her. He thought to himself maybe she was just a good lay. Then he felt like kicking himself for merely letting that cross his mind. He felt like if Brandy would have never even invited him to her place he stilled would have asked her to be with him tonight. He still would have felt this feeling this morning. That feeling that he can't live without her. Or would he? He told himself to concentrate on what needed to be done before the tour began, but his mind kept leading right back to her. He couldn't stop thinking about her. Would he have felt this way for her had he not slept with her last night. He pondered on it for a long time. "Yes I would," he told himself. He passed a flower shop and decided that her admirer should keep his admiree entertained. With the way she was looking today he had better keep her mind on him, because she wouldnt be his for long if she didnt. Although somewhere in the book of love said that he had nothing to worry about. Brandy and AJ were plain out meant to be.

He picked out a dozen white roses and a cute little teddy bear. He had them sent to the law firm. He told the clerk to have them sent to her office at 1:30, no later, no earlier, and they better get there looking like he ran through the medow to pick them just for her. He was very precise and forward. The man looked at him and asked in a soft tone, "Excuse me sir, if you don't mind my asking, would you happen to be in love." "Yup. I sure am. With the most wonderful woman that God graced this earth with. So I need you to make sure that these look like they are for the most wonderful woman that God graced this earth with. Can you do that for me sir," He asked. "I'll see to it. She sounds like she deserves them," He told him while writing out the order. AJ left the store, jumped in his truck, and drove off.

While Brandy was walking to class someone stoped her in the hall. He came up behind her and taped her on the shoulder. She turned around, "Hi Kyle," she said trying to smile. "Hi Brandy, my you look nice today. Special occasion?" "No, well sort of, but anyways you didnt stop me to ask me that right?" "No actually, I was wondering do you have plans for tonight. I'd really like to take you out to dinner or something." "Actually I do have plans for tonight. I'm sorry." she said while smiling nicely and turned to walk away. She thought to herself, "Am I going nuts? Am I out of my mind. I know it's materialist and highschoolish but did I just turn down Kyle Justice? You dummie he is one of the most sweet, charming, smart people in this school, not to mention probably going to be most successful in life." She went through class and every chance she got she wondered if her turning Kyle Justice down was a mistake. Every girl was after him and a month ago she probably would have went to meet his parents if he'd asked her to but this time AJ had kept her from it.

On her 15 minute break she wondered if her relationship with AJ was healthy. She knew it was going to be difficult having a relationship with him while he was on the road. She kinda wished she hadn't turned Kyle down at this point. She told herself to not worry about it right now and to focus on class. She wasnt here to meet Mr. Right, she wanted to be a lawyer. But if Mr. Right were to fall at your feet what were you to do. The question is which one was the right Mr. Right.

She went and got a bottled water and called AJ on his cell phone. She needed to here his voice. She knew it wouldn't help matters any but it would help her feel better through her next class atleast. She dialed his number on her phone. "Hello." AJ answered. "Hi sweetie." Brandy replied. "Hey. Whats up?" "Nothing I was just kinda wondering how I'm gonna get to work without my car." "No worries babe. I gotcha covered." "If you didnt have such a sexy phone voice I would swear you were a commerical ad announcer on the radio." "Hey you never know where I'll pop up." "Well I need to go I got to get to class. Pick me up at 1:15, k." "K, cool. Have a good day sweetie." "Bye." They hung up and she sighed a breath of relief. She wasnt sure why but he always seemed to make her feel better.

She started to get restless during her professors lecture in this class. He had been talking about the same thing for 2 weeks. She had taken all the notes possible on it. He was basically reviewing. She started daydreaming about AJ. She thought about the previous night, everything that was said, everything that happened. About the upcoming night. What was she going to do when he left? She turned her attention back to her professor. She was almost fed up with this damn guy. He preached the same thing everyday. She hated to even go to his class anymore.

After class was over she rushed outside where AJ was waiting for her in the same place he droped her off. She jumped in the car and looked at him as if almost about to drop dead. "Hey can we stop at this store up here. I need cafine. I'm never gonna make it through work," she told AJ laughing. "Sure," he told her smiling back. They stopped and she leaned over to him. She kissed him. "MM. What was that for?" "Because I thought about you all day." She told him. "Really. Well I thought about you too," he said returning her kiss. She kissed him on the cheek and jumped out of the car. "Do you want anything," she asked him. "No thank you."

She came back out with a coke. She opened it and took a sip. "Want some," she offered. "Yea sure," he answered. She held out the bottle to him. He reached over like he didnt see the bottle and kissed her. "AJ we're gonna have a wreck," she told him while motioning for him to watch the road. He laughed and continued driving.

They approached her building. "Man this is a big building," AJ said looking up. "Yep it's the second tallest in this city" she told him after kissing him goodbye. They said their goodbyes, once again, and she jumped out of the truck and walked to the door of her building. She walked in and her watched her until he saw her get on the elevator. He drove off.

Brandy finally made it to her desk. She set her books down. She had left her breifcase there over night. She hoped that she had everything in it that she needed for today. She could already tell that it was going to be hell. Her boss came down on her first thing about one of her grades slipping. She assured him that nothing was wrong she just did a little worse than expected on a term paper. He told her the usual about how she has to stay top of her class to be at this law firm as an intern. She told him the usual with the "Yes sir, I promise it wont happen again." Although she was thinking a 96 to a 92, big deal. She decided to not let it bother her she didnt want to be stressed out, and she needed to get some things down.

She went and ran some errands for the attorney that she worked for and came back to her desk to get the papers he needed from her. When she got there she saw a dozen white roses and a cute teddy bear that was holding a card. She walked over and admired the flowers and opened the card.

From:
Your secret admirer
To:
The most wonderful woman
God has ever graced this earth with
I'll pick you up at 8:00.

She knew from that moment that she had done the right thing by turning Kyle down this morning. She knew that she and AJ had to make things work. And they would. She felt God tell her that he was the one.
