Anubis: God of Mummification
AnubisAnubis, according to Egyptian mythology, Anubis was the god who embalmed and wrapped the dead Osiris into a mummy.  This act brought Osiris back to the living, as the god of the dead.  Anubis was, from that point, the god of mummification.  The jackle headed god was probably chosen because jackles were often known to dig up graves to feed on the bodies.  Priests who embalmed for a living often wore an Anubis mask during the ceremony.  All Egyptian gods were shown holding the Ankh, but Anubis was the one who brought eternal life to
                 the Pharaohs.
