My Personal Tribute to the Heroes of September 11

Memoirs of September 11, 2001 event

In the moment of grief, anguish and sadness..I am very sorry to hear, that "in the peaceful morning hours of 11th September 2001 --there were severe bomb attacks and plane crashed into 'Giant' World Trade Center buildings in New York and into Pentagon in Washington cities. Many innocent lives were lost in this horrified tragedies." My prayers are with those, who lost their beloved relatives. The Heroes who died in trying to save other lives from the rubbles of World Trade Center buildings in New York city has inspired all American people and rest of the World to stand united against the enemies of freedom. For some people, I am sure the world would have now completely changed.

May God give enough strength to the survivors of this horrified tragedy to live with them. God Bless all the People. Hoping for the Better future. No one in dream, would have never imagined, such kind of heinous acts and huge loss of innocent lives and properties. People should learn from our historical past.

Let us pray for the World Peace.--Arun Kumar Tripathi, an indian research scholar, philosopher and network educator, in Germany

A tribute from Sanah Singh-For the people of America

Witness to the insanity of the hour,

Innocent pawns in the game of power,

Sacrificed by the Devil's own

To a cause undefined unknown.

My heart goes out to those forever gone forever lost,

Weeping eyes, sighing hearts for the kin they loved most

Let this sorrow be a lesson to all humanity,

Today its them tomorrow its us, victims of fanatic insanity??

Our pain our anger we share on this day of doom

And pledge to destroy the seed in Satan's womb

Shadows of terror no more,

The Devils creed a mere lore.

(Written by Sanah Singh, India these lines I have written come straight from my heart...and in some way I wish to convey the anger, the sorrow, the pain I feel today. sanahsingh@hotmail.com)

Dear Parent and Teachers,

Elementary School Letter

September 12, 2001

Dear Children:

Many Americans were injured or lost their lives in the recent national tragedy. All their friends and loved ones are feeling very sad, and you may be feeling sad, frightened, or confused, too.

I want to reassure you that many people - including your family, your teachers, and your school counselor -love and care about you and are looking out for your safety. You can talk with them and ask them questions. You can also write down your thoughts or draw a picture that shows how you are feeling and share that with the adults in your life.

When sad or frightening things happen, all of us have an opportunity to become better people by thinking about others. We can show them we care about them by saying so and by doing nice things for them. Helping others will make you feel better, too.

I want you to know how much I care about all of you. Be kind to each other, take care of each other, and show your love for each other.

With best wishes,

Laura Bush

Dear Friend,

It is an under statement to say that we are very shook-up by the horrible purposeful attacks on September 11, 2001.

-What can we do to lessen the chance of this ever happening again?

-What power do we have as educators, parents, or community members to lead kids down a more productive path?

-How can we help those kids directly affected by the tragedy?

The headquarters of the Global Schoolhouse is located San Diego area, a few miles from Camp Pendleton. During the Gulf War, thousands of Marine Corps parents of our school students left their homes with less than 24 hours notice. The children who were left behind were very distraught. But, one thing that helped them cope was to have a global outpouring of support through the emails they received from other kids around the world.

Global SchoolNet wants to help in any way we can. So, we have set up a space on the web to allow kids around the world to send their messages of hope, support, and condolences to those affected by the September 11th tragedy.

Scanned drawings and digital photos that convey hope and support will also be accepted.

These messages will be compiled and shared with the schools directly impacted by this disastrous act of terrorism.

Message from Parry Aftab, who is the head of both cyberangels.org and wiredkids.org

Children from around the world have been touched and affected by the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. They need a way of sharing what they are feeling and thinking with each other. They also need a way of starting the process of moving on…and feeling that they are contributing to the healing.

Now, together with our professionals, partners and supporters, WiredKids, Cyberangels and Epals are launching a special program to help the healing process for children from around the world.

September 17, 2001

Mr. Arun Tripathi, Burkhardtstrasse 28, Seeheim-Jugenheim, 64342

Dear Mr. Tripathi:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about the tragic events on September 11, 2001. I share your sorrow and anger over the terrorism on our soil. I would like to share with you my remarks made on the Senate floor on September 12, 2001.

Mr. President, yesterday's vicious terrorist attack left an uncounted number of Americans dead and injured, and countless others grieving for friends and loved ones they have lost. We offer our hearts and prayers to those people, who have suffered a pain so deep it is beyond understanding. But we not only support them in their pain and grief, we also share it.

Every American was wounded in yesterday's attack, because it was an attack on our freedom and fundamental values as a people. Some have called this attack an act of madness, but it was not. It was an act of war - an organized, coordinated, pre-meditated murder of thousands of Americans, designed and carried out for political advantage. We will not allow it to go unpunished.

We will stand behind the President as he brings our law enforcement, military and intelligence forces together to find these murderers and their allies, and as he takes the steps necessary to demonstrate clearly to all the world that terrorism against our nation will not be tolerated.

Here at home we must continue to work together to bind up the wounds of this nation and heal the widespread injuries and anxieties that these acts have caused. We are profoundly grateful for the efforts and sacrifices made by the relief workers, police, and firefighters - and we deeply grieve for those heroes that we lost yesterday in New York. We are also reassured at the selflessness of Americans across the nation who donated blood and resources to get us through this tragedy.

This isn't the first time terrorists have tried to attack the United States - and it won't be the last. At the turn of the new Millennium, an orchestrated terrorist attack was stopped when border guards in Washington state intercepted terrorists who were bringing explosives into the United States from Canada. They intended to plant bombs at a New Year celebration in downtown Seattle and to kill as many people as they could. Fortunately, we discovered that plot and stopped it. This time, we weren't so lucky.

But attacking this country is not enough to defeat it. It never has been. That's something our enemies have discovered again and again. America's history is the story of a nation, of a people, that has repeatedly overcome what seemed like insurmountable challenges - fueled by our individual liberty, our respect for the rule of law, and our belief in the value of every human life.

America began as a nation by overcoming tyranny. We will continue by overcoming terrorism. And we will do it without sacrificing who we are as Americans. We will do it by upholding the principles of "liberty and justice for all."

Thank you.

I am proud of all of the American citizens who have banded together and volunteered to help during this time of great tragedy. For information on how to volunteer or donate your time, resources, or blood, please view my website at Senator Cantwell Home Page

Sincerely, Maria Cantwell, United States Senator

"Remembering the tragic happenings of 9/11 events after two years, I believe, I should recall the quote of Great Soul Mahatma Gandhi, "The things that will destroy us are: politics without principle; pleasure without conscience; wealth without work; knowledge without character; business without morality; science without humanity, and worship without sacrifice." Therefore -in spirits of the Mahatma I'm hoping that peace and harmony should prevail in the tragic times round the globe."
