    Amorphous Images

 THE SALTROPOMORPHOUS
(The jump of an amorphous landscape)

Is the imaginative idea of a sub real abstraction of a linear moment of form, colour and volume; Beginning from the concept of an isolated landscape inside of a real or imaginary boundary of “amorphous space” that because of being in the light, generate a shadow or “mirror image” with opposite properties. Two ways to allow each an intermediate step to be an equilibrium state, and produce in a sense the “jump” of the amorphous body into its own unchangeable notions of time and space(s).

Kevin Sarmiento

Kevin Sarmiento makes his first solo exhibitions playing with ingenuity around the themes of birds, fishes and human figures, carefully searching out theories and titles. He is more a sketcher working with colour than a painter; he works rather crude pen and ink techniques, developing the semiology element and the transfigurative form at the outskirts of sub realism. His work, which is on a small format and using bright colour, reminds one of the magazine illustrations during the thirties and forties published by Laborde. But, without any doubt, Sarmiento is not familiar with the work of the European, practically unknown in our continent and this allows me to be certain of the originality of the young Colombian.
