I'm sure you figured it out by now, Ken's my name, music's my game.

I've been in bands before, but I've struck out on my own.
Now you see, it's all about me, Ken, and the songs I write.
A heart full of songs, an acoustic guitar, and a computer to record on.
Anyone who would like to play along is welcome.
I have two new recordings available on my mp3.com site. Please check it out at www.mp3.com/kens.
You can hear a recording of Forever and Ever recorded at home and a live version of Pale Skin Spoon Shaped Girl.

Sundays mixdown went rather well. The tracks sound pretty good for a quick job. I uploaded the mp3s this morning. Keep an eye out.

Bryan K. Ward came over today to record Euphonium and Trombone on an old recording I made of a song called, "Princess who married the Fool." The horns really make the song. I am going to mix this song and another called "Moon through my Window" with Bradford McGowan on Sunday and then put them up on Mp3.com for my B-day.

I was so bored I did a silly little Pop-Up interview. You can read it here.

I put new tracks up on Mp3.com. Check them out.

Here's what I think. I am going to play a show in my livingroom in March. I'll invite everyone I know. It'll be good. I promise. Keep your eyes on this site for the exact date.
1/10/01 Hi everyone! Happy New Year 'n stuff. I played a show in San Diego with my best friends Alex Rodriguez and Wayne Gamble. It was a loose affair at Effin's Pub, near SDSU. We played so many songs and kept a very hootenanny approach. It was my favorite show of the year. So far...

Rock Out SF! went really well. So well in fact, that I got my picture in the Sunday SF Chronicle Examiner. It's in the metro section, page 9 if you haven't recycled it yet. There must have been a band a block out on a hot Saturday in the city. I walked around Lower Haight, down to Hayes Valley, and around the Civic Center. I must have played every song I knew. It was great though. Keep the faith San Francisco, I am here to believe you.

Ken's Super Duper Birthday Band 'n Stuff in effect. Thanks to everyone who played or sang along to the brief 5 song campfire set at my birthday party.
It was a wonderful and touching example of what I envision Ken's SDBnS to be.

So much time has passed. What's been going on? I've been super duper busy 'n shit.
I tend to keep this information hush hush, but I play in 2 other bands.
One is 14, where I play bass, and the other is Curvature where I am the drummer.
In my spare time I have been assembling a computer based recording studio to replace my 4-track. Not that I don't like it, but I find it limiting.
Stay tuned loyal viewers. Once the studio is up and functioning, new recordings will appear.

First entry of the new year! I have a couple of pictures from my last Stork show. Wow, it's been a while.

Full moon in effect, I mixed down Smile :) Emery and High & Low. They came out great. These are surely my best recording yet. Check them out at www.mp3.com/kens.

Last night I hit XS Sound in beautiful West Berkeley to lay down tracks for two songs (Smile Emery and High & Low). Things went well. Steven Sena, the Engineer, looked just like Steve Martin in My Blue Heaven. I swear, and he was just as wacky. His studio/home had a very comfortable atmosphere, and Steven, with his Steve Martin-ness put me right at ease and ready to create music. He said I sounded like They Might be Giants but couldn't tell me if I sounded more like John Linnel or Flansburg. I am proud of the tracks I laid down. They sound just like me, whether that be good or bad. I will post an Mp3 of one of the songs here after next week when I mix down, then post both on an Mp3 site. Stay tuned true believers!

Last night I booked a night in a local recording studio. I plan to lay down my sequencer tracks and play acoustic guitar. Is there an ep in the works? No! My secret plan is to release a 7" record, so this is a first step. Send e-mail if you would like a sneak preview.

Well, the holidays came a bit early for me this year! This weekend I stumbled into a Goodwill Thrift store and was astounded to see an Optigan sitting in the front window. Now, I have been a fan of Optiganally Yours' Spotlight on... album since it came out, and there was no way I would pass up this little gem. $50 later I was loading this thing into the back of my truck. It wasn't until it was plugged in and warmed up that I noticed it came with a slew of discs (6) and the cleaning brush. It makes at lot of noise, but seems to be in great shape. I stayed up until 1am on Saturday playing it. E-mail me for rental info.

I really would like to play more. I have been intrigued by the Livingroom concert/tour ever since I heard Cindy Lee Berryhill was doing it. Is anyone out there interested in me playing a show in their home?
What's a House Concert?
House concerts are very informal gatherings in living rooms , yards, garages, where 20 or more people can sit
on pillows on the floor, kitchen chairs and couches to see some of the best music in America. Many of you
have already attended or been invited to house concerts and know that they are the most intimate settings
available for concerts. They are fast becoming the most popular way to hear singer/songwriters around the
country.

My show on September 22, 1999 was great! I played an abbreviated set to make room for the 3 other bands that night. It was a regular Hootenanny with Bryan K. Ward, Hudi Brenman, and Eddie Pollard joining in on the fun. Thanks to everyone who came out on a Wednesday night for the show. I think this may have been the best Jyve performance yet. Keep your eyes open for the next exciting installment of Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff!

I know its been a while, but I just wanted to let you know that I now have ¡ken! stickers! Drop me a line if you would like some. They are small, but quality and cool.

Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff and Jyve ride again! We'll be back at the Stork Club on September 22nd. You can expect more suprises from me including the premier of my Yamaha QY70 sequencer and Hudi Brenman on accordian and clarinet. See you there.

Last night's performance of Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff was excellent. I truly appreciate all the people who came out to Oakland for the show. I played a 50 minute set which included all of my favorite songs. Shout out to Jyve for groovin' the house late night, and a special thank you to Bryan and Tim for playing along with me.

I had quite the rock and roll day yesterday. First, I bumped into local singer/songwriter Bart Davenport at a coffee shop.
Then, my co-worker Michael hooked me up with some of his friends. I will play bass with them on Monday.
Last, I finally delivered my demo kit to the Stork club. I handed my stuff to Mary who got her glasses and offered me a show on July 28th!
I heartily accepted, so mark your calenders friends.

I woke up this week with the notion that if I had a portable sequencer kind of thing I could use that as my back-up band, so you know what?
I bought one. A Yamaha QY70. So far it is like a casiotone gameboy, but I trust that I will be sequencing back-up tracks soon enough.
4/12/99
I opened a show for the now defunct Bart Starr at the Bison Brewery!
I played 7 songs with skillfull accompaniment provided by Jeremy Brown of SpikeDriver.
I hope to have Jeremy over to my house soon to 4-track a similar performance.
Stay tuned for details.
