Birthday Bash

It was Rachel's birthday. To celebrate, all those at the waystation on the particular day sat down the evening meal (with a very special cake for dessert) . On each plate was a coloured party hat.

Identify where each person sat, the food they happened to put first on their plate and the colour of the hat worn.

Lou was wearing the purple hat but did not sit at the side of the table nearest the door.

The person wearing the orange hat is sitting next clockwise around the table from the person wearing the red hat; one of them is Rachel.

Buck's favourite, the corn, was not placed first on a plate marked with a vowel in the diagram.

The green hat was on plate A.

Jimmy sat at place C.

The person who took the gravy wore the blue hat, and directly faced the Kid across the table. The latter did not first eat the biscuits, which were not next to the steak.

Place D was the site of the potatoes, while the person at place B also took a vegetable; the two people seated at these places are the same sex.

Clues are in alphabetical order.

Riders: Buck, Cody, Jimmy, Kid, Lou and Rachel.

Foods: biscuits, corn, gravy, peas, potatoes, steak.
