Little Moments

Smoke bellowed out of the pot bellied stove. As Marie raced to it, smoke stuck her face. She waved frantically at the smoke. Her husband rushed inside. He grabbed her, pulled her away from the stove. He released her a safe distance from the stove and ran for a pitcher of water and poured the water on the stove. With the smoke gone he walked to his wife. She was crying as he pulled her into his arms. He asked her if she was hurt, "No I just… I’m sorry I burnt your birthday cake." She sobbed against his chest. Ike hugged her and begun to smile, Marie looked up at him she play-hit him and laughed.

*Marie, now bring it closer to the fence.* Ike motioned her to the edge of the fence as Marie pulled the wagon closer. The horse pulled back at her direction. Ike smiled. She was beautiful. Suddenly, he heard a crash as she backed the wagon straight into the corral fence. "Damn!" she shouted. She quickly covered her mouth as she blushed. Ike just continued smiled, she looked at him and laughed. *You just looked so darn cute.*

Ike sat on the sofa next to his wife. As she laid her head down against his arm and slowly fell asleep he pulled her close. His arm began to go numb. He needed to move it so bad, but he didn't want to wake her up. Instead he pulled her close and fell asleep next to her.
