Champs Sire, Morgan Gist

It s hard to see his butterscotch body color, or his chocolate points right now, the shine in his coat makes it lighter than reality. I am really excited about this colt. He has the rare Champagne dilution gene, AND has a Creme dilution gene on a bay base, making him an Ivory, or 'Dark Ivory' as I call him to distinguish him from a sorrel based ivory.

His sire was a Buckskin, his dam is a Gold champagne, who may be homozygous for the champagne gene. Champ will stand to a limited book for 2003.

Below is a picture of Champ's eye, and of my perlino filly's eye, Sandy, taken on the same day.

Those are not dirt flecks next to Champs eye, that is the 'freckling' associated with the champagne gene. The perlino filly's eye has no freckes yet. Pictures taken the same day.
My perlino mares also get freckling, but not as extensively, and not until the are about 1.5 yrs old.
