The Cyclone's ASA World Tournament History

1937 - Mayfield Curlee Clothiers

The kentucky State champs picked up Warken before going to Chicago for the National tournament. Warken pitched 4 games for the Curlee team, who placed 5th out of 56 teams.

In game 1, Warken struck out 14 of 22 batters faced, allowing only one hit in route to a 3-0 win. In game 2, Warken pitched the tournament's only perfect game, not allowing a hit or run. Game 3 was another no-hit effort by The Cyclone, in which he fanned 19 batters. In Game four, the Curlee team was beaten by an 11th inning home run after striking out 19.

In four games, warken struck out 66, pitched two no-hitters in the same day, and did not walk a single batter.

1938 - Nick Carr's Boosters

The Kentucky State champs from Covington played three games in the Nationals before coming back home. Warken pitched another no-hitter in the second game.

1939 - Nick Carr's Boosters (National Champions)

The Kentucky State Champs once again traveled to Chicago to play in the ASA National tournament. Warken struck out 99 batters while allowing only 12 hits in winning 6 games to take the title. In the 11 games (89 innings) of the state and national tournament, Warken pitched 9 shutouts, fanned 161, and gave up just 22 hits.
